Best flashlight for like 200 dollar?

i really search a perfect flashlightlight. wich throws out so many lumens that it kills the eyes of another person(not literarry :P)

i have the fenix TK45 but i want more lumens really, and able to reach futher with the light.

What cells? Custom or stock light? Color temp you're looking for? LED, incan, or HID?
 
i dont care about runtime, cells, size, whatever. (okay it needs to be in portable shape but you can define portable for me)
i care about lumens, and throw.
 
They key part affecting this purchase is "for like 200 dollars". That takes the hid flashlight out of the equation. Unless you want some horrid ebay one which I'm not sure if they are even priced THAT low.

And btw, a 10w hid is 5-600 lumens max. Plenty of flashlights out there brighter than that. A 24w hid would be brighter, but very much out of the price range.

my current light was like 125 dollars and has 760 lumens.

you are in luck my friend, i am just like you... and after thousands of dollars, i found out that... there is no such light... what i am trying to imply is that you cannot have several focus point.. if you want lumens go for a mag623 build... its using a 100W bulb vomitting 4000 lumen.,, the smallest for this can be found even in a mag 2d size light. Throw in a aspheric lens and you get a thrower look with a disgusting beam... this like goes for like $150

Or you can get the dereelight aspheric with r2 led that outthrow everything in its genre . when shine upclose you cant tell how impressive it is.. but shine the light on a building as far as you can see. It is only then, would you be able to appreciate its true awesomeness.. this light is going for like $100 or less ...

and after all of that, i realise that i want an EDC and thats where the real pain in the pocket comes.. custom modders there are way infront of us over here at lpf... their design variations, the size, and quality makes some of the lights on sale there beautiful enough to be displayed in showcases...

HIDs are known for throwing long distances as well, if you're looking for that. They're great illumination tools and the one I linked should leave you some money left over, it's <$150 shipped to me, and you're closer so shipping should be less.

I got a XM-L in a solarforce host with an 28mm asperic glass lens that throws pretty damn good at 150'

the driver is pushing 2.8A to the LED so i'd say even with crap efficiency it should be 850-900 lumens...

total cost of build with batteries... $75

its almost as bright as a $175 steamlight
 
One thing to remember with almost all flashlights (just take it as this unless they specifically state otherwise) is that the lumen rating is the number of lumens at the 'bulb'. So while you may see a light labelled as 800 lumens with an SST-50, these aren't OTF lumens, even a really good reflector and lens will still drop the OTF lumens to 5-600. I will still recommend HID over LED light for brightness and throw.

for that price, I'd build a SST90 inside 3D maglite - 2100+ lm in relatively small host
 
My Maglite build is using the XM-L T6 and a 3 Amp, 3 mode driver...

One cool feature is a voltage monitor option. :cool:

I went with the Maglite because I wanted a bright light that can have some decent run time. That's one problem with SST-90's. Not good run time...

I'm getting a lot of good feedback from the boys over at Candle Power Forums... I have all the feedback together for reading here: :)
