Buying a 200mw green laser soon.

I currently have NI-MH 3000mAh 1.2V AA Batteries at home but i don't think these will be powerful enough to get the most out of my laser?

So, which batteries should i go for? how much Volts etc

thanks in advance

Green lasers typically require 2.6-4.2V to operate. Would be nice if you posted a link to the laser so we had an idea of what you're talking about.

Actually, thats all i needed to know :)

Thanks buddy!

Uhm, that was a general statement. Your laser can fall anywhere in that range depending on its output. 200mW units are closer to the 4.2 mark where as the 100mW units can run off of 3.0.

Some modules are picky also.

I have some (ones a 200mw and ones a 30mw) that refuse to run off anything but 3v. On 4.2v they work for a split second before going into what I assume is "ic over-voltage mode" where it goes extremely dim. Back to 3v and they are fine. First time I did it I thought I fried em.

The CNI green pen I had didn't start dropping current until 2.3V, but still retained a good 70% until 2.2V when a pair of NiMH cells would be empty. If the laser is designed to take AAs, there's a good chance it'll work well with rechargeables.

I had one that would only work on the freshest possible cells, and even then it would only last for a minute or so before only outputting IR. I ended up using a single Li-Ion and a spacer, but a warning, this will either help your laser see the voltage it wants, or it will overvolt your laser and you will end up with trash.
