Battery Leakage with Wicked Lasers Nano (green)

Hello,

I'm a laser pointer amateur.

I recently purchased a Wicked Lasers Nano Series (3B) 532 nm 5mW/15mW (I'm not sure why there's two power ratings here, maybe different settings?).

The laser pointer does what I need it to do, but I noticed that there's a battery power leak. When I have the end cap on with fresh/new batteries, the pointer won't last the weekend before the batteries are dead with no use of the pointer at all-- just sitting idle/off. With the end cap off batteries have (obviously) lasted as long as I expected.

Has anyone else had this issue or know of a solution other than keeping the end cap off? I'm aware that this could encompass quite a range of issues, but perhaps there's a list of obvious candidates for me to check/try that you guys might know of.

Thanks for reading

The lasers IC is waiting for a single or double tap command from you so it knows to be in either momentary or continuous mode. Therefore it is doing a constant low draw from the batteries. The only way to stop that is to take out the batteries or as you stated, to take off the end cap when you are not using the laser.
The design engineer needs a bit of this ... :twak: :spank: :spank:

The 5mW/15mW is to be able to ship to the USA. There are 2 separate 532nm models. One at 5mW and the other at 15mW. If you are in the USA, you should have received the 5mW model.

Thanks, that answers my question!

Would be great if there were 3rd party end caps that provided a true circuit closure (on/off) button.
