Anyone know the Sony BDP-BX18?

I found someone local with a broken Sony BDP-BX18 player/recorder. I'd like to buy it off him but I can't seem to find any information on what diodes come in that sled. I'd love to know what diodes I'd be getting from it so I know if it's worth what he's asking.

Does it record directly to BR? I can't tell by reading the google specs.

I was told it reads and records br, hddvd, dvd, and cd...however I'm not seeing anything on it either which is why I'm asking. I'm getting the feeling it doesn't record and I was lied to
