And I don't mean fig. :)

I caught this video (I guess you can call it a biography) about Issac Newton on my local PBS channel when it was first released years ago (it was done by the BBC and I think they did a great job), it had to be the fastest hour I ever spent in front of my TV.
It shows a side of Newton that few people are aware of and what inspired him to do what he did.
If you have seen it than.....MEH, but i'm hoping some will find it as interesting as I did.

Physics, Chemistry – “Newton, The dark Heretic”#

I've watched it before, its really good but if you like biographies I suggest that you watch Master of lightning. It is about Nikola Tesla and his successes and downfalls. It is my all time favorite biography and one of my all favorite "movies"

Tesla - Master of Light - www.albca.com/aclis

Every one should watch it because there is not enough people in this world who know who Tesla is. If it weren't for him we probably still wouldn't have some of the technology we have now, such as A/C, x-rays and even LASERS

Sorry!

This is a Newton only thread! :tsk:

No, Carnegie did nothing but steel.

Does the video mention he poked himself in the eye as part of his experiments to determine where color came from?

Yeah Edison suck! Killed an elephant with Tesla's ac current to prove how dangerous it is, just so everyone would support dc for power, which is total crap btw. The phuck.

Newton?

Yea he did stupid things to his eyes for science, if you look at the video I posted optics and eye probing comes in at the 11:30 mark.

Why is that stupid?

Yeah, of course, now in 2010 we know almost everything there is to colour, but back then they had to try that kind of stuff. For example, I remember a scientist who swallowed a sponge tied to a string to determine what was inside of the human stomach.

I swallowed a penny when I was about 6 years old!

I'm sure that Galileo knew what the consequences would be staring at the sun, it's about what drives a person to do what they do.
