This one:
http://pelican.com/cases_detail.php?Case=1040

I'm wondering if it fits a standard dx laser (http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.469)

They lasers measure at about 15.8cm and the inside of the case is 16.5cm.

Duh the measurements show it fits, but I intent to buy it with pick'n'pluck foam so dose it fit with some foam still at each end?

The other question is do I buy a 1060 case instead (http://pelican.com/cases_detail.php?Case=1060) which is 20cm long. But I can't find anywhere in AUS that sells it with the pick'n'pluck foam already inside it.

Please help ;)

if you think a quarter inch on either side is enough headroom for you, go for it. You could also fit the laser in diagonally.

Not sure of Aus's options in terms of hardware stores etc... but here in the UK, one of our bigger ones "Maplin" sell flight cases really cheap.

Have you considered one of those instead?

They usually come with pick-n-pluck foam aswell.

Mine was less than $20 in a sale but they generally go for only a bit more anyway.

The case is okay.. I have one due to my NV equipment came with it. I moved it out of that case and placed it in a larger container.

NV = Night Vision

I bought a flight case for my lasers there when the offer was on too. A good buy.
