I'm having issues with a laser I bought a while back. It used to work sometimes when I unscrew the toggle switch in the back and now it doesn't seem to work at all. I have dropped it quite a few times on accident... :cryyy: Does anyone know any trusted laser repairer that can fix it for me? Let me know a price and thanks in advance!
 





A little more info would be helpful here; what type of laser /host do you have? Was the laser working OK before you first dropped it? Please also post your location as this is a global forum and will help us to match you with someone willing to repair if it's not an easy fix.

It has the copper direct press heatsink with a G2 lens. Runs on 2 18350 IMR. It uses a 1.8A buck driver. It worked 100% fine when I first got it. I then dropped it and it only worked sometimes such as when I loosen the toggle end a tad at the perfect spot. It would only work once in a while then. I then stopped using it and it doesn't work at all anymore. I tried opening it to see if there was any loose wires or connections but I didn't see anything to my knowledge. I'm not familiar with lasers at all so it would be great just to have someone fix it for me.

Can you explain what you mean by "toggle end"?

How do I connect the exposed battery contact directly to the metal shell of the host? Also I am from San Jose, California.
 
Did you touch the end of the paperclip to the black part of the host (as in your pic), or the exposed silver cloured threading. The black part is anodized, which means it is electrically insulated.:beer:

Just tried that, still no luck. :cryyy:
 
You mentioned above that it had been dropped. It is therefore possible that there is a bad connection somewhere either to the diode or the driver, but it is also possible that the bond wires in the diode may be damaged. If the latter were the case the laser may turn on by shaking or rotating it due to an intermittent contact within the diode.

Who did you buy it from? Perhaps they can offer to fix it. If you wanted to try yourself youll need to take it apart and use a DMM to test the connections. With C6's you should be careful when removing the retaining ring on the end. Make sure you hold the heatsink with your fingers so it cant rotate when you unscrew the ring. If the heasink rotates you run the risk of ripping off the diode pins. :beer:

Edit: did you check your battery too?

I purchased it from yobresal almost 3 years ago. I've sent it back to him twice already for repairs. It used to work sometimes when I shake it or rotate it. After each time he repaired it I would drop it a few months later and it stops working again. I've already contacted yobresal but no response from him. I'm absolutely clueless when it comes to lasers so I'd rather pay someone to get it done right instead of me experimenting with it. Also batteries are fully charged and replaced with new ones.
