I think this would be the right section, but something Ive been scratching my head over for a while and can't figure out.

Now for knurling, I only ever had to do knurls that are parralel to the tool on round stock, but one thing I wondered, how would one do a dimond shaped knurl on a beveled or angled cone surface?

When I knurl regular flat surfaces, its no problem to do so:

However, how would one achive this type of pattern (Id imagine it would be streched out a bit because of the cone surface, inner diameter smaller then outer) I never heard of a tool to do this, so I wondered if anyone else has.

Right now im using a scissor style knurling tool.

Not the most thought-out diagram around, but it should get the idea across:

I'm pretty sure they are called conical dies or something similar... I'll check once I get home.

Might be able to do it with a taper attachment, not sure though.. That's something I've never attempted before :p

But if wanted to get some serious angle you would need a conical knurling tool
