It's here!  Yay! ;D
There's a rattle.  Bummer.   :'( I think a piece of the aperture shutter got broken off and is inside the head.  Haven't heard back from nova yet.  If it's as simple as unscrewing one end, and screwing another piece on, I can handle that.  I just got it.  I don't want to RMA it.    :-X

Question:  Documentation says use "alkaline" batteries.  I've read on here that several of you use rechargable NiMH's.  I thought I remembered seeing a thread dedicated to batteries, but can't find it.

What negative impact could there be (besides voiding warranty) of using rechargables?  What positive impact (besides not spending hundreds on batteries) are there?

Alpha 105 rated 128.6 mW peak, 115.1 average. Stings the back of my hand, unsharpied, in under 2 seconds from about 4 feet.

I hope the shutter is just loose!!!

No one would want to RMA a laser they just got!!! :'(

I have used Lithiums in my x-105 since the day I got it!!

Gazoo (And a lot of others) use rechargeables without any problem...

But since the Alpha uses AA and not AAA sized batts, It sure wouldn't hurt to drop Nova an E-mail and run it past them.

Especially if you are going to need to RMA it for the Shutter!

Post any Pics or vids yet???

Of course not...and as I recall Nova confirmed E2 lithiums are ok to use in the Alpha. We already knew they are ok to use in the Nova...

I am sure using 2 li-ion's in either laser would void the warranty.

What's the difference between E2 Lithiums, and lithium-ions? How do either of those compare to NiMh? Wasn't there a thread related to this?

I've got a week or so to decide on battery type. RMA'd the 105 this morning. :( should have it back in a week or so, hopefully. :-/

E2 Lithiums are "Disposabla"..Use them ..when they die..buy new ones...

Lithium-Ion are "Rechargeable" lithium cells...

rechargeable Lithiums will start out with more voltage...enough that they could damage your laser...

They are also dangerous unless you really know what you are doing.

Stick with either Energizer e2 disposable Lithiums, or go with the Eneloops (MiMh If I remember..Nickle Metal Hydride)

Gazoo loves those Eneloops so much ..he has even me looking at trying them....

I'm not a huge fan of rechargeables....But thats just me.

SRY to hear about your RMA....But I'm sure Nova will take good care of you.

Hey! Congrats on the win of the DG by the way! I envy you. :)

Nova is being MORE than fair with me. I'll post a full review when the situation is resolved, but, as of right now, I'm a loyal customer for LIFE. I'm even thinking of branding myself with their logo. I may need a 500mW and a heave dose of anesthetic, but, it's an idea... ;)

I'm so, SO glad that I did my research and found Nova. I was about to go with WL. Now that I've read the nightmare stories of them, and experienced truly great customer service with Nova, I know why Nova is so highly recommended.

It's when there's an issue with a product that a company truly has a chance to shine. Nova is doing an exceptional job, far beyond what I expected. They truly have great customer service.

new Laser is here...Nova took care of me. :) Starting new thread...
