First off just wanted to site what an awesome site this is. Ive been lurking for months and Ive just recently been able to register. (keep giving me errors) The information on this site seems to be endless.

Ok, over the past couple weeks Ive been messing around with different DVD burners etc just kind of getting the feel of things before I attempt to build my own. Now I think I have a pretty good idea of what is to be done. Ive ordered all my parts late last week, just awaiting the arrivial. Here is my list of what Ill be attempting:

-mxdl host (the one that takes two 3.6v)
-phr-803t
-rckst driver fixed at 101ma
-aixiz module with acrylic lens
-making my own heatsync

With this being said, Ive seen alot of mxdl host threads on here but using the dr lava flex driver. I would've used the flex driver but didnt want to wait 4 weeks.

Ive read the rckstr driver requires 6-9volts so I should be good with 7.2 correct?

Does anybody see any problems I may run into using the above list? Or am I missing something?

Thanks!!

I just finished a BR with the rckstr and a 4171 using 2 rechargable CR123's. Works like a champ set at 100mA, but I haven't used it much so the voltage hasn't really begun to drop in the batts. The flex drive is a better choice with that host as you don't have to worry about having to use fully charged batteries. I would have preffered to use the MXDL that takes 3 AAA's (using 3 10440's)but I'm still waiting for them to arrive from DX. What made this a truly exceptional build for me is that I didn't kill the diode in the process :)

Thanks thats what I wanted to here. Hopefully I can do the same and not kill a diode now that I know it works on 7.2v
