30$ for a 50mW laser? whats the catch?






it might or might not have an IR filter, and therefor the 50mw might only be 10mw of green and 40mw of IR.

Most people that get DX lasers are satisfied, they're pretty cheaply made from what I hear, but they do what they say, most of the time.

Hopefully someone that has purchased a laser from them will post. I believe Senkat and Pseudo might be able to say so.
 
The DX "New-Wish" models all have adequate IR filterring for 50mw and below - as in MAYBE
1-2% total IR emissions. They are cheaply made, some are durable, some aren't - it is pretty much a crap shoot when you buy any laser from DX, as there is little to no QA, and even LESS Csutomer Service. If you are simply looking for a quick fix of green, and cheap - go for it :-) If you wish to have quality, and assurance that it will work every time you pull it out of a case, or your pocket, get a Nova pen style, like the X-series.
 
yea this will just be to screw around with for awhile til i can con some money to build a red one with one of your diodes SenKat.
 
i bought 6 of these
2 of them drop to 10mW in less than a second
very bright dot then bam dim dot

im sending the 2 weird ones back today in fact
 
in your experience were they tough, or was it like senKat said, some weak, some rugged?
 
yea its pretty much luck of the draw
and I haven't really put them through any rigourous use yet
they just sitting on top of my photocopier right now

Hey - do you still have that MONSTER 50mw one you won in the charity raffle that I sent you ? IIRC - I was inbetween power meters at the time, but I know it cut and burnt better than some 100mw lasers I have seen ! Just curious - I cannot recall if you gave that one away as a gift or not - I seem to recall something about that ?
 
it's currently being used by my friend
i measured it to average a little over 85mW
it's a beast ;D
 
so what are the odds of me getting one thats underrated like that? not exactly 85mW but still a lil more then 50

if you're getting the $26 fake ones... underrated = quite high
all 6 of mine average less than 50mW over 60 seconds
 
no your thinking overrated, i mean how many (new wish brand) of them are usually underrated, as in have MORE power then they say
 
really? well that blows... but anyways, my bro is gonna go ahead and buy one of these 'new wish' ones to screw around with while i build my red burner
