200mW Lazerer pointer (battery faulty?)

I have charged the battery for 2 consecutive hours and the light remains red. I know it takes more than 2 hours, but I tried the battery in the laser and there was absolutely ZERO light coming from the laser... (It wouldn`t turn on). It's the original *18650 1400mAh Rechargable Li-ion Battery*

Is it faulty or does it not work until it charges longer? (And yes, I placed it properly in the charger)

Check batteries with a DMM, make sure you put them in the right way, let them charge all the way, and stop making threads about this.

I think it's you're charger, or you have fully drained the battery, which you shouldn't it reduces it's capacity and life. Most companies claim that there batteries won't be affected, but it's all lie! I have experienced it myself.

Get a voltmeter and measure the voltage output of you're charger, if its below at least 4 than its youre charger, otherwise it's youre battery. You could still save you're battery, get a fairly high voltage (6-9) and put it across youre battry's terminal positive to positive and negetive to negative for about 15-30 seconds it will work! though its not recommended

Chance you have reversed the battery. Red laser is case negative laser that mean you have to insert your battery with negative toward the tail. With is different from lasers with other wavelengths.

Thanks. Got the battery to work (finally). Now I just need to figure out why this supposed *200mW* laser won't burn anything. I'll try focusing it to the focal point.

If it is focused to the smallest point (infinity), it won't burn. Any tips on knowing the actual focal point when its more diverged?

You mean it won't burn at infinity (unless its my 2W 445nm blue) and burn at the focal point which is the smallest dot.
To find the focal point, turn you're lens anti clockwise and keep on turning it till the spot gets bigger and the focal point will be close to the lens, then use some sort of medium that will allow you to see the beam clearly, such as smoke, and you can see where the beams diverges. To make smoke, burn a bit if newspaper, or a bit of potassium nitrate mixed with sugar only a small amount makes tones of smoke!

lol obviously you have misunderstood the term "focus". The point is not the smallest when it is focused to infinity. Yes you are right a *200mW* red laser will NOT burn anything in this condition unless it is a laser with narrow beam such as 532nm green laser. The beam diameter of red laser usually longer therefore you will need to "focus" it to get a higher power density.

Of cos higher power laser will do the trick when it focus to infinity. But we are talking about a 200mW red laser here
