I have been playing with a 20 watt diode array I recently got.  Since my 17 watt died, I wasnt sure of my power supply, and I dont have the money to get a storage scope yet, so I took my kodak digital camera and set the shutter to 3 seconds, aimed it at my old 60mhz oscope and hooked up the power supply with the dead 17 watt diode. I took these pics with the camera while turning on and off the psu to see if there was any surges in the power that would account for the 17 watt diodes early death... the power looks clean to me, so I hooked up the 20watt diode array, and it works, I just hope it continues to work. :D

one or more emitters appear to be missing.

Just curious.. to what timebase did you set the scope?

heres the first thing I burned with it.

Good grief... ;D That thing does have some burning power even though one of the emitters is bad.

I dont know for sure, but I am starting to think the 17w diode array died because of reflections, theres no other reason for the thing having done what it did, and the 20w is going strong after hours of run time at 2sec on, 5 sec off. I have been working on collimating it all day, and have gotten it quite small. its 3mm x 7inchs at 15feet. thats a LOT better than the 17 fiber coupled array ever did. now for that hp laser printer lens to finish this thing!
;D

That the best you can do with my diodes? Don't make me start pulling out vids from the Pseudo 808nm burning collection! :P A good few watts of well focused IR instantly lights a candle or can set a piece of cardboard aflame. Now that's burning! Screw all y'alls balloons and matches :D

thats what I thought, It seemed a little weak to me, but Im not sure.. I hate to push on it though, one more resistor will bring it up to 25 amps. Oh, come on now! lets see the vids! :P

I was curious about this device, and did a search on 20 watt diode array, but it leads me back here.
For those of us who don't know about this array, what was it originally designed for? Is it a DPSS? Who makes it, etc. $? What kind of driver?
