1mm  red laser divergance?

Why dont you see red lasers with a divergance like green lasers, why is the beam always so big and fat!??

Because red lasers are diode lasers as opposed to green DPSS lasers.Not sure why exactly but DPSS lasers have better beam specs, or atleast thiner beams than direct diodes.As for divergence you could probably get better divergence with a red laser because the beam is so thick, if you really try.

I think because the Green Lasers use at least 2 lenses usualy.
Our DIY reds use only one lens in the Aixis Module.

My pulsar has great divergence. You can clearly see the dot on distant buildings and you have a hard time telling that the beam is diverging unless you have a large area to test it. Unfortunately the huge beam diameter giving it good divergence also means that it won't burn anything unless you focus it.

Supposedly the Pulsars have negative divergence at the aperture. They theoretically should converge at 9m if you extrapolate the chart on the WL site (below). I've tested that and it doesn't, but because of the fat beam the dot does stay about 3mm even at 20m. When you thin the Pulsar beam like I did here, the divergence does increase dramatically, but it burns a lot farther away. Always a tradeoff I guess.

Ok.... how about putting a red laser diode inside of a green lasers module(minus the crystal of course)? Run the diode's beam through the expander lens, then the colllimator lens just like the greens do? You may have to turn the collimating lens way in to focus it, but it seems it should work......
