So I was reading one of my favorite tech blogs this morning and came across something I found quite interesting, and many of you may as well. The first list is to the tech blog's article, and the second is to the university that is working on developing the technology.
Sony, Tohoku University develop blue-violet laser with 100 watt output, eyeing 1TB optical disk future? -- Engadget
Joint developm... | Achivement and... | -TOHOKU UNIVERSITY-
Anyway, by my understanding they aim to use it for insane data storage, similar to blu-ray as it is now but insanely more powerful.
A 100W 405nm laser to be available for consumer use... that's certainly an interesting idea.
