1000$ for 500 mw green?

I contacted several suppliers of cni for this laser at 500 mw:

and got prices around 1000$, which is WAY above what I will pay for a laser. I was expecting closer to 1$ per mw and maybe even less given that I was ordering right from the supplier. I think that this module may have more quality than I want. On the data sheet it says a lifetime of 5000 hours and only 1.5 mrad divergence. I wonder if I should contact them and ask to see if i can get a lower price if it is not as high quality, or if i should buy the 200 mw one and try to run it at 500 mw with extra heatsinking
