What kind of power output does it provide? If it's around the 200mW area or higher with a plastic lens I'd buy it (as I can make that ~250mW with a glass lens).

I already tried one. Unfortunately I had to send it back once to get the switch repaired, and now the diode has gone (I bought a 3W one).

Ah then I have some questions for you sir :) 1) Is this thing both collimated AND focusable? If so, how do you change between the two? 2) Have you measured the laser power?

Looks like we could have 3W+ 808nm lasers about then. Could the Kryton barrel properly heatsink such a high powered diode?

Shit :o at 2600mAh though I can't see it lasting more than 20 minutes under a constant 5A drain. Still, not bad though. What driver would possibly provide 5A anyway?

You would have more trouble finding a battery that could provide ~5A of current.

You can get some insane power out of these diodes. A c-mount giving 5 watts of 808nm isn't uncommon providing you have the means of heat sinking it

C-Mount refers to a type of laser diode. Very small, but requires an external heatsink.
