Anthony P, I have a 6mw HeNe which works pretty well, although the spatial coherence isn't great, maybe about 10-20cm. I appreciate your recommendations.
After accidently damaging my last OPSL530 (thanks Holokid, it was great while it lasted), I am once again looking for laser diodes suitable for holography. Some of the older models listed on this forum are becoming harder to find, so I wanted to see if anyone knew of any newer diodes with good...
I made the mistake of using the bench supply to power each diode without running it through the CC first. Although my multimeter gave me no reason to worry during load testing, I recently discovered that when the PS is turned on the voltage jumps to 20V suddenly before lowering to the correct...
Thanks! I made a ton of incorrect assumptions from the datasheet which was provided, somewhere I saw a value of 2.2v and a warning not to go above 2.4v and assumed it was the same across each of the diodes. I have 4 buck CC's I am planning on using, I just wanted to start with a metered supply...
I'm using a CC/CV metered supply where you set the voltage and max current. I set it to about 2.2V w/ current limiting set to the max A indicated on the data sheet provided (160/80/130mA). Mostly it's because I'm afraid of going much above 2.4V for these modules and wanted to cap voltage and...
Looks like I'll be replacing the red and blue lasers on this driver anyways. The laser diodes supplied by holokidd were junk, burned out within minutes even running conservatively and slightly below the recommended 165/150mA CC he posted on the "user guide". Driven at exactly 2.2V, the red one...
Thanks, I've taken a few EE classes and optical physics classes but that was about 10 years ago so I'm trying to get those wheels turning again... I totally skimmed over your LM317 CC current, everything I've read seems to suggest this is the way to go. Any advice to keep things stable to...
Aptasia anemones? I've found that if you disturb an adult one without killing it instantly, it releases a cloud of polyps before it dies. I always relied on lowering nutrients and biological control, although I'm curious about your experiences using lasers to control them.
Anthony, do you have any experience using the LitiHolo self-developing plates? I'm definitely going for quality/longevity, although I can't find any sort of comparisons apart from the >90% reflectivity claims. When purchased in bulk, they are about $5 each.
I'm operating in a basement. On the topic of table mass, I'm trying to determine if getting a granite slab would be a better option, or if I use my existing setup but place the metal plate on the slab using sorbethane pads or something. Optimally I just want something I can reasonably...
I also have one of these laser modules and plan to use it for holography. Do you have additional details regarding the driver unit you constructed? I'm hoping to get as stable of a power source as possible (vs the highest output power), although it seems like using some VRM's and a bench supply...
New holographer here...
Trying my hand at RGB holography. I'm still working on a remote beamstop, but I'm thinking something like a black box with a hole in one side to catch the beam, that way only a very narrow angle of reflection can escape the box. Obviously this is more 3d and heavier than...
Hello! New holographer here...
I'm thinking the magnets will dampen some of it, especially if you can use copper as the supporting rod to induce current thereby reducing vibrations. The problem is that you still have un-isolated contact with the metal support rod
I'm looking at making a...
