can a Digital LED driver be used as Laser Diode driver??

A red diode. And no idea. No way to identify it. Very well might be junk but it did light up very dimply. And the point was it measured 7.5v (same as source voltage) at the load terminals regardless if the diode was connected or not. And yes I pulled a lead and measured with my meter in series...

can a Digital LED driver be used as Laser Diode driver??

Really? Wisconsin too? Cool. Anyways i already have the driver and did some testing with a random unknown diode. Powered it with a 7.5v transformer, measured 7.5v across the load terminals both empty AND with the diode wired in. Also I had it set for 30 mA but measured only 17 with the meter...

can a Digital LED driver be used as Laser Diode driver??

All just theory for now. It's a garadasoft PP610 controller. Adjustable current source with resolution down to a quarter milliamp. I figured it might be good for testing all sorts of diodes with current control that precise. Here's a link to the user manual...

can a Digital LED driver be used as Laser Diode driver??

Ok because the lower limit on the voltage for the relay out is like 7v. With typical forward voltages between 2-5 so that should work out I think.

can a Digital LED driver be used as Laser Diode driver??

Can a digital and adjustable LED current driver be used to control a laser diode? What about voltages? say if output voltage is 15v with the driver set to 30mA? will it damage the diode? or just automatically adjust?

Help focusing my 50mw laser pointer into a burning laser

I have videos of my $20 burning laser, but it can FOCUS. I have smaller pens like yours and while the measure roughly the same (55mw) cannot be focused and therefor cannot burn. If you want a burning one just get a focusable one...

    190-375nm goggles vs 405nm laser?

It SEEMS to block nearly all... If I shine THROUGH the glasses you can see a dot on the glass itself, but almost no light appears to pass through. So you don't see ANYTHING past the glasses.

    Hello!! Manufacturing Tech intro thread!

Oh, FYI I extracted the smaller diode from the SDL laser out of its module and its a TOLD 9211 - Toshiba 680nm Diode - TOLD9211S ... - Datasheet Search Engine Download

LPM test videos of 2 Ebay 405nm BluRay Lasers

Yup! One of my greens 532's is flaky and I think the full output is closer to 40mw.. Anyways, here's a pretty cool shot of the focal point of the bigger 405. If you hit a dark target at about 21mm it will burn. I checked out a laser etched cap of a sharpy under high magnification and it looked...

    190-375nm goggles vs 405nm laser?

thanks yea that's what I was thinking but didn't know how to word it properly. lol and yeah these lasers in particular are not powerful enough to damage them, they're like 60mw. (unfocused anyways)

    190-375nm goggles vs 405nm laser?

Well I don't know what you mean by "off" exactly... I doubt the ratings are inaccurate. I'm guessing it just provides a Lower level of protection for the 405 area. Or maybe its close enough to the 190-375 that it gets filtered anyways...

80mw green laser for $19, anyone bought this before?

Looks identical to the 405nm Ebay Laser I bought. Tested at around 65mw. I also tested a simple PEN style 405nm ebay laser... also around 60mw. So I would say as far as the 405's go the big fat locking laser is almost identical to the simple "pen" style 405's.... Now I also tested a simple 532...

    190-375nm goggles vs 405nm laser?

doubt it... These aren't ebay glasses... These are our official work laser glasses. (and 532 slices through like butter. )

Non lethal weapon: JPX pepper gun with 50 mW laser attached

problem with lasers is the concentrated beam. My GF though a laser would be good for the same thing as well until I demonstrated that you would need to hit the attacker with pinpoint accuracy to have any effect. Where as a standard light spreads out to cover a large area. I had a $5 walmart...

Stress testing cheap pens - do they ever die?

FYI my Ebay 405 pens run around 60mw and my 532 green ebay pens run around 35mw

    190-375nm goggles vs 405nm laser?

Well FYI i put the goggles in front of the LPM and I couldn't even get a reading.

Visibility: Laser coming towards you versus laser travelling away.

exactly, when in front of the beam you will see light that is only scattered a few degrees, but when viewing from behind you will only see light that is reflected a FULL 180 degrees back to you. A much smaller portion.
