WOW! YOu did an awesome job. That build is very solid. Now do that with 2 of the new 5W 650nm C-clamp diodes and let me know. I would like to officially claim "dibs" on your first production of 10W red lasers :D

Laik! Please say you are serious that there is a 650/660nm 5W diode out there! I haven't heard of such a thing. But then again, I've been knee deep into all things copper and 445nm lately so.... please confirm !

haha! yea I cheated a bit and gave it a little cooling system since I have never run any of my lasers longer than 5mins. The thing didnt even feel warm to the touch but that was to be expected. Gonna try some distance burn tests later this week just for fun...lets see if we. can't put a hole in...

Update: Since I've stocked up a few 9mm diodes, I decided to run the torch for 15mins on one duty cycle. I had it pointed at an old closet door we are replacing which is approx. 1.5in in thickness and this was the result. I friggin LOVE this thing!

It cost me a pretty penny, but its one of a kind and the materials and machine work you really can't get around. The line item pricing can be found on Jayrob's 2Dmaglite build thread I posted in my initial post. It was more than my one month's allowance from the wife that's for sure:)

Hi all, so where can get the clear coat? I checked with MRCROUSE and they only work with aluminum as far as anodiziing. It would be a real shame to see this in a year or so tarnished. Let me now where you guys recommend to get this done.
