    Gaypal "PAD" system?

LOL, maybe its a banking conspiracy because there could be an uptick in overdraft fees as a result of waiting before the ACH debit is sent.

    Amateur Rockets

Re: Amature Rockets Too funny. I've lost some of my best rockets when moving up to bigger motors. I've come to learn recovery of the rocket is the single-most import aspect of the hobby. If there is risk I cannot recover said rocket, it becometh wise not to launch it. :)

Need help from the hardware Gurus

Well done, Splat. The Haig mount is a great start. I seem to recall there was some kind of error introduced because the screw drive is straight, instead of curved. But for tsk's needs, this may be just the ticket. +1

Need help from the hardware Gurus

Hmm, interesting challenge. It's too bad you cannot use a wall clock, and it's clock motor to rotate the camera. It's slow and smooth enough. But the speed doesn't vary, so that won't suit all your needs. Gear reduction is your best bet. An electric motor won't likely have small enough...

Interesting studies on green and yellow and the future

They ARE exciting times. But I think until there is widespread use of these other wavelengths, the supply and demand principle we all know and love will continue influencing our costs in the surplus and hobbyist community. For example, the wonderful 2000mW 445nm diodes we enjoy (and are...

How to put thumbnails on this forum?

Photobucket does this for me. I simply upload the image, and it provides me a link to the larger and smaller images already formatted as SerpentSlayer indicated. imgur.com may do this, too, IDK.

    Hoping for tight focus

You want to use visible light, focused to 100 microns, is that right? To do this, you’ll need optics to first expand the beam, and then focus it down to a tiny spot. But that, of course, makes the (depth of field small and) focal length critical. Meaning you’ll have use an XYZ table to move...

Head arrived - now up and lasing!

Re: Two quick questions about JDSU cylindrical argon heads The PSUs are easier to find in 120V than the fans. I know where to get fans, the exact one mentioned in the docs, but they're pricey, over $200 each. :( The hardest thing to do elegantly, in my opinion, is finding a clean reducer...

How to put thumbnails on this forum?

I struggle with this, too. The only way I know how to attach a larger image, but link thumbnails inline with my post, is to host them offsite. I use photobucket. I then copy link from PB back to LPF posts. The only downside is I can never move or organize the photos, because the links get...

Head arrived - now up and lasing!

Re: Two quick questions about JDSU cylindrical argon heads your are correct. The diameter (or radius) is hard to spot in the docs, but it's there. 3 point something diameter, 4-inch ducting into the input port of a squirrel cage fan. I have a spare PSU and spare fan that run on 220VAC if...

    Amateur Rockets

Re: Amature Rockets Nice. If you use a G motor, you better be in the desert and have a vehicle to go retrieve it. Sharp eyes and binoculars will be needed, too. :)
