Re: FS: FandyFire 400mW 638nm Builds ($115 shipped)
Well thanks rhd, that's certainly appreciated. If its only a difference of a few dollars I wouldn't even worry about it. It did arrive over the weekend but I immediately had to go out of town for work so I haven't had a chance to put it...
Well the company wants more profit, but I would imagine that because that profit is defrayed by all the additional costs above, they need to have a higher margin than any of our users here. Plus, that profit needs to be spread out among more than just one person. Most of the guys around here...
Well I mean the question is why do you like them? If it is merely a question of something that looks cool and can "burn stuff" then yeah, I think you're going to potentially hit a wall pretty early. If you are building things, you get more bang for your buck as its more about you and your...
Very good to know, once I get some funds up I was likely going to be going to him for my next handheld. There are so many really outstanding members on this forum!
I for one would be really interested in seeing something like that. Work and school are more important, but whenever you get around to any details of how you made a DIY EMP that would be way cool!
That's probably a good rule of thumb. If you see any yellow spots after you close your eye, it was too long or too close. Keep in mind you likely wont FEEL the damage, and you might not notice any problems until a good while after.
It's never a good idea, just in case you do accidentally hit an errant reflective surface, so while I don't think many people around here would recommend it, you would probably be safe for brief glances. I would avoid doing it around any white or similarly bright colored surfaces, as that is...
Welcome welcome, sounds like you did what I did and lurked and read up well before you joined, but just for the sake of thoroughness I'll still suggest you check out all the stickies and safety info. As usual, don't forget to SEARCH before you ask questions, everyone wants to help, but not...
Careful there OP, these guys are just looking out. With 7 posts (I know I'm not much better) everyone here has to take you for your word that you know what you're doing, for all they know you're a 14 year old kid with very generous and oblivious parents, and the last thing we need is someone...
Isn't it possible that the drop made some small fracture somewhere, epoxy or otherwise, that worsened due to the heating/cooling cycle of it being on/off? Your ambient temperature wouldn't do much in itself other than slightly reduce what your safe duty cycle would be.
Running it for less time...
Don't go much higher than 5mw without glasses...there is a reason that is the limit many countries have adopted for "safe" lasers. And you have to ask yourself - why do you want lasers? If its just for something that looks cool, green and blue and purple are nice and unique in the general...
While I will admit that I'm kind of intrigued by 808 lasers, the fact that they're basically invisible radiation is too scary, at least until I get a better workspace and some serious glasses. While a watt is certainly is a watt is a watt, you definitely need to consider what you want to burn...
