Clif is by far the BEST seller (of anything) that I have ever bought from. He was always open to any of my noobish questions when I was learning. Not only has he been a great seller but also a great pal.
Sorry to confuse you. The red diode is on the LEFT when they are out of the sled. And on the right when they are in the sled. If that doesnt help I can update the op with labeled drawings. :D
Done. Made a lm317 based driver that puts out 125ma and hooked it up to both. It was the one on the left. That was my guess. Next to the pen build.

Thank you very much! Hmmm only 150mW, looks like my plan has changed. I guess I'll put it in a gold pen host then. I got the diodes out of the heat sinks. The one in the bigger heat sink has letters and numbers on it. It also has a blue window like my olike 250mW red. The one in the smaller heat...
The one on the right isn't damaged. There is a optic over it, but in the picture it looks crushed. Sadly I don't have a DDL (yet) and am left almost guessing. Thanks for the help though.
*EDIT*- Did a little more research and I found out that it's double layer burning. It's a 16x burner (I...
Hey guys. I have a DVD burner that I am getting a red diode from and I extracted the sled and diodes from and was wondering if anyone knows which one is the red diode and which one is IR. Here's some pics of the lable, sled, and extracted diodes. Sorry about all of the pictures. Thanks.
Mike
Hey guys. I feel pretty dumb asking this but Id rather know. I have a CD burner here that I want to harvest from but was wondering if it will be worth it. I don't remember If the good diodes are from a DVD burner or CD burner (or if both work). It's rather new but I'm curious. :thanks:

Here you go! Velleman 50W Soldering Station : VTSS5U . It comes with a different iron holder, mine was metal. They are fantastic! I personally like it more than any other station I have used. Also there are extra tips on there site to by. You may want to pick one up so that you don't have to pay...
That isn't that ghetto at all. What kind of soldering iron do you have. I learned the hard way that the right tools make building so much easier. I went through 2 diodes and a driver before I got my new iron, haven't kill anything yet. If you would like I can post the link to the station I have...
Not to add on to the fact hes in the wrong section but I can justify it will work. Here's a 445nm diode (without a lens) through a spray paint stencil.
No not necessarily. Depending on the current he is pumping through the diode its not 100% needed. The module he is using has a decent mass and wouldn't surprise me if it could take a LPC-826 at 450ma for a solid minute. That being said It always helps. He will get longer run times but hes on a...
I don't believe so. I've seen sites like DX and such crap get pulled but not many if any from Lazerer. It's always a risk though. The way to look at it is, it's possible from anywhere.
Mike
Well I know you want one built but lazerer sells a 150mW green with a lock and key. They do have high quality lasers and you can contact Max too. Heres a link: LZGN - 532nm 150mW Focusable Green Laser Pointer
There are higher and lower powered models too.
Hope I helped
Mike
