hey i think the ring of light is from light reflecting off the shiny metal screwy thing on top of the part were the flame used to come out... try coating it with some AR coating... non reflectant paint is good too hope this helps

Hi, I got a not-so-good friend to take a 50mw green from China into Australia. Luckily for me, it came through without any hassles. The laser was concealed in a box marked "Shanghai World Expo" (among the chinese souveniers). The box was not tampered with by customs at all. I guess it was just luck.
