Yeah I suppose, I just think it would be odd if one of those pieces above actually was the diode. I'm leaning towards it being the 16 pin piece with the heatsink, I mean what the hell else needs a heatsink in there. Still that's odd, but I guess it is useless if it is the diode.
This is probably the best focusing job I can do with this $70 Samsung
So on the left you can see the 45 degree slanted optics piece. Towards the center the lens, and next to it the "tracking coil", that's what I saw it called here
There were two small magnets I pulled that were directly...
Sorry bout that. Well there has to be a laser somewhere I mean you can't have a DVD player without a laser right? And it says Class I laser product on the bottom...these were the only pieces that came out of the optics sled...other than some plastic reflector pieces and a lens.
I pulled this laser out of an OLD Polaroid DVD player. I'm looking for help because the diode doesn't look like a normal diode i've seen before.
I'm definitely no laser expert so this could completely not be the laser diode at all :O But it was pointed directly at a series of plastic optics...
Re: I need a simple red module
Thanks, yeah I've done filtering with a red laser before in a cheap pointer i broke. On my webcam the dot appears as a whitish spot with slight pinkish red hues on the edges, and becomes redder the farther away it gets.
I think I will end up gettin a cheap 5mw...
Re: I need a simple red module
Wow really? I would not have expected that a 5mw green would be brighter than a 20mw red! It's not really a price problem, it's just the project is really simple. But if I can get a 5mw green for $6-7 then I would definitely rather do that over $12 for a red...
Re: I need a simple red module
Oh I see! They have a 10mW 650nm for $12 awesome!
edit: I am using this laser for a project involving a webcam, and I know that 632 nm is easier for the eye to see, but is that also true for a webcam? I need the webcam to be able to 'spot the dot' as easily as...
Re: I need a simple red module
Okay thanks, yeah I had heard of aixiz and I've been to their site, I just thought that $30 for a 10mW red was overpriced. Or is that the standard?
I need a simple red module
Hello, I'm new here. I'm just curious what people's opinions are on where the best place to buy modules from is. All I want is a very simple 10-20mW red laser module, so I guess I could go on Amazon, but I want to hear some opinions.
