I agree, Hyperion. The saturation is quite low. Even the red could afford to be a little brighter. =)

EDIT: Nice work on the anti-aliasing Twhite! :gj:
Maybe consider making the oval and danger logo in an image editing program, then plop it in there with your script since the "danger" part never changes.

I love it! Is there any way to make the shapes anti-alias or higher resolution? The edges seem to jagged to me. =/ Over all nice job though!
Thanks a bunch,
-Zachary
Ok, so I have a table with my supplies and sources in the attached .pdf file...
I went over my expected total of $50, so does anyone know of any other places to get any parts on my chart for less? :undecided:
Thank you,
-Zachary
EDIT: Is there any place where I could find a 445nm sled instead...
It's amazing how much can be stored in such little space. :)
I tried to test what each lens does with a pen laser pointer, but it was too weak. (probably a dead diode) I'll try them out when I finish my laser.
Thank you for all of your input and advice. :thanks:

Here are some pics of what I found...
The lenses and some mirror/prism thingamabobs including an IR filter (the blue tinted one at the left)...
The camera capturing sensor and screen...
A strange piece that I thought was interesting...
A speaker and mic...
The flash and it's...
Hmm...ruby laser? I need to check that out, seems interesting! I actually took apart the power section from from an old computer that had been sitting the the garage and I found to HUGE capacitors. I'm guessing it's to prevent damage during a power surge?

I'm not sure exactly what kind of lenses I collected, but I took quite a bit of time harvesting them all for any future use.
It is an IR filter! I tested it on my laptop webcam. The IR LEDs from the remote showed up purple, but when I slid the glass filter over the camera, I didn't see any...
I'm going to a computer/electronic recycling place Wednesday. What can I get that's good for laser building? It's 50 cents a pound. Not sure if it's just a big junk pile or an organized area.. =/ Anything worth taking?
Thanks,
-Zachary
Anyone Here Live in the Dallas, Texas Area? I live in Allen, Texas. Just wondering because I'm a newbie and it would be great if we could talk. =)

Wow, that is very inexpensive! Thank you for the suggestion. =) I really liked Jayrob's build using this host:
DealExtreme: $10.90 C6 DIY Cree LED Flashlight Full Casing/Shell with Driver Pill (2*CR123A/1*18650)
I might use it, or use my original host, either way I was still wanting to build...
I had a really awesome idea, not sure if this has been done before or if anyone thought of this. What if you could connect the internal pot to an external dial to adjust the power on demand? Is this possible? If so, is this a practical idea?
-Zachary
I think I found the IR filter. It is a square thin piece of glass with a greenish blue tint. Is that correct? I also found a load of convex and concave lenses and a couple prisms. I never found FS mirrors though. =/ I did collect some cool buttons for on/off of maybe some other lasers.

I have a point-and-shoot Canon camera, maybe 2 or 3 years old and it stopped working. We tried to fix it, but never could. Is there anything that I could get out of it?
Thank you,
-Zachary
So, you're saying that a 3.7 volt bat is to much voltage for a lava drive? I should just use a regular AA then, right? I understood that the lava drive emits less heat then the rkcstr drive.

I understand...but what I didn't understand was where to place the switch. This article kind of confused me by saying that "the switch MUST be placed between the battery and the driver, NEVER between the driver and the laser diode!" While thinking about this some more, I figured that the switch...
I've looked around quite a bit and discovered some very interesting information. I also have a couple of questions. So, here goes...
I found a camping flashlight that we haven't used in a while, so I decided to use it as a host for my laser.
I plan to use a lava drive, so I need minimal...
Hello all, I joined just recently and I hope to be posting my new laser pointer soon. I'm currently trying to find my way around the forums--so much good information!
Lasers have always interested me, but now I've decided to look into how to make one since it would be an interesting, yet fun...
