    Relative brightness Calculator?

After being off for a long time, I was looking into getting another laser but I'd like to figure out how bright a 445 will be to say, a 532. The calculator here isn't up anymore though. Is there anything similar?

First time laser...er. Advice on buying gear?

This is kind of a generic post, and you seem like you have a good Idea of whats going on, but just remember to use eye protection when you get to the more powerful lasers.

    Theoretical Question

Ok, so lets say that heat is not a factor. What, besides heat, limits a laser or any other electronic item for that matter?
  6. wolfhunter9154

    Theoretical Question

But if you had an impossibly good heatsink, wouldn't they not melt?

    Theoretical Question

Lets say you had a diode mounted to a heatsink that was 100% efficient in removing excess heat from the diode. What else limits the amount of current that you put through?

Getting better with electronics? What tools?

I have a 75 watt weller that my dad got 15+ years ago and it works great still.

    Estimated Brightness?

Yeah, I figured that. I was just wondering what power it would be around.

    Estimated Brightness?

It is about the size of the match head, which I was unable to light.

    Estimated Brightness?

I cant focus it, but ill try it and record it. I'm guessing you would use the video for the time it took to light correct?

    Estimated Brightness?

So a few weeks ago I ordered one of those ebay "5 mW" 405's knowing that it would be overpowered, but what I got is more than I expected. I dont have a LPM, but how many mw's do you think it is if I can see the beam in my room with the lights on? It would have to be at least 100+mW right?

Turn a tennis ball into a Laser Ball

Obviously you cant throw it around at walls and stuff, but how "shock proof" are red diodes?

Turn a tennis ball into a Laser Ball

To the people saying to use red and violet, or any other color for that matter, wouldn't they require different voltages? or do they make violet modules that run at the same voltage as reds?

FS: 1W 445nm lasers in finned sipik hosts **PRICE DROP**

I dont have the link anymore, I ordered these a while ago. They are about 658 mm long. That would make them protected right?

FS: 1W 445nm lasers in finned sipik hosts **PRICE DROP**

I am interested in one of these, but I think i have protected 18650's how can you tell if they are protected or n0t?
