It's not Master Replica. I made it using the same components that were used by the Lucas propmakers to make the original "A New Hope" Skywalker light saber. Most of it being a particular model of Graflex three cell photo flash unit. The rest is easy. A particular model of windshield wiper...
Yes, I ordered an Arctic, and I'm waiting patiently, not whining, not threatning, not stomping my feet or holding my breath in any way. In fact by not canceling my order I am eligible for the $50 offer from WL.
Instead of being a petulant little snot, I'm gleefully planning on building my own...
I am also in the market for an old stle dorcy jr full body heat sink. Had bough one from Dark horse awhile back and built up a 405nm, now I want to do the same with a 445nm, have the Dorcy but no heatsink.
Ehhh, you are going to set a current through a resistor. 100ma at 1ohm would require the regulator to supply 0.1V (if there were no diodes to make thinks easier).
If you used a 1k resistor you'd need 100V (0.100A x 1000Ohms = 100V) from the regulator. Me think no workee.
Radio Shack does...
Thats a big rod and you are going to need to pump it hard...Hmm that does not sound right. Anyway, I had a 3"x.25 Ruby rod and minimum pump power was 150-200J.
Dont forget to make a pulse forming network to strecth out the flash a bit 1-2ms should be OK, otherwise you will be un necesarily...
I'm running between 160ma and 200ma most of the time now. Because of the nature of the Phaser packaging I don't leave it on for more than 10 or 15 seconds at a time. So I can go a few weeks before having to recharge, because it only runs less than a minute or two total per day. I also don't...
Switch,
The battery was found at a hobby shop that caters to RC airplane guys, something I also do. In fact I bought two batteries that day, The small one for the Phaser, and the big one for my flying wing. The small one, the Prodigy is a 130ma/hr 3.7V single cell. The big pack is an 11.1V...
Re: New member, new build, videos
The current adjust is a hole in the case that allows you to adjust the pot on the Flexdrive. If you look at the bottom shot closely you can see the Flexdrive pot.
The current monitor is two pins that you can put a voltmeter on to measure the voltage across a...
Re: New member, new build, videos
Jay,
The flash paper is just rolled into a ball. I first tried it as a sheet and the laser would cut holes through it easily, and you'd get some smoke, but the total amount of heat was not enough to get a good reaction going. So rolling it into a ball puts...
Re: New member, new build, videos
Got the paper at a local magic shop, I had to sign some forms that said I knew what I was doing with it. The fools.
Jay, your lens works great, I got a 26% increase. For this build it would have been better to leave the whole front of the glass holder in...
Hi, I am new to this forum, this is my second post. I have been around lasers as a hobby for about 20 years. I have played with ruby, Nd, HeNe, Dye, DPSS etc. My latest build is a Blu Ray diode laser using a Star Trek Phaser 1 ( the small phaser). It came out OK, but I can see areas where it...
Hi, new to this forum, but have been playing with lasers for 20 years on and off as a hobby. I have 3 PHR's and one of these Aw210's. I drive them with a FlexDrive. I am a little disappointed in the AW210 in that I get almost eactly the same performance as with a PHR. Not sure if I want to try...
