    Line-Forming Lens sources these days?

Looking for a (semi-cylindrical?) lens that'll take a +/- 2mm beam, and give me a nice flat divergence such that it projects a line, rather than a spot. Preferably glass - I could be passing up to 8W of 445nm through it, so I want to have the thing have a fairly high optical damage threshold...

    Custom host fabrication?

I have a plastic-bodied hand-held case, the form-factor of which I love. I would like to find someone who can replicate this item in aluminum so I can use it as a laser host and not melt the case and cook my diode. See pics. Yes, it's an old Radio Shack digital tire pressure checker lol. But...

Been a few years - what wattages are we up to now?

Thanks very much! These look like they should do the trick - I can use the Black Buck 8M with these since that can handle up to 8 Amps, and the NUBM4F maxes out at 6 Amps... correct? We've come a long way from popping balloons and cutting electrical tape! :)

Been a few years - what wattages are we up to now?

I've been on here on & off since the very beginning. Every few years I pop on to get updated. Last time I was on here around 2017 I picked up several 445nm 3W blues (they're still alive amazingly!) Looking around now I believe I'm seeing that 8W diodes may be available? Looking for some...

DTR's Laser Shop - Laser Diodes & More

Items received today.... the one I've powered up so far is fantastic. I'm treating them gingerly now, running at 6vdc, but they are powerful and beautiful. Burned a hole through a cardboard box! :) Nice units. Thanks. Dave

DTR's Laser Shop - Laser Diodes & More

Hi there! Long time... glad to see you're still in business. Just ordered 2 of the 9mm 465nm NDB7875 with driver & copper module. Looking forward to playing with these. I hope you're doing well and prospering! Dave Xanatos

    Tunable Diode Lasers? Or, 609.5nm?

I'm doing an experiment with SPPs (Surface Plasmon Polaritons) on a metallic hydride, coupling the beam to the surface with a BK7 prism. I'm needing either a tunable laser that can include the range from 635nm to 609nm, or alternately, a 609.5nm source. Are either available for less money than...

    Direct-Drive 445 Host

Nice info on direct driving - if, like me, you don't really demand that the intensity stays at maximum until the batteries finally give up the ghost, it's apparently fine, especially if the Vb very nearly equals the Vf of the diode. Thanks for the info! Dave

    Current Limiting with Resistor only...?

One reason: Space. That's it. For a variety of reasons, I have a number of things that need to get stuffed into a tiny space - this is one of them. The space difference between the LM317 driver vs. a resistor actually can make the difference of including a function or not. Otherwise - I'd...

    Current Limiting with Resistor only...?

That makes sense. This is for an application where thermal runaway is very unlikely due to the momentary nature of the operation - seldom for more than 3 to 5 seconds in an already heat-sunk housing. As for capacitive buildup on the terminals, if during the test setup, I have a resistor of...

    Current Limiting with Resistor only...?

I am very aware of the value of using constant current sources with my diodes, having started off with the venerable Daedal driver several years ago. But my question here is: If I want to run a simple test setup with a diode from a battery, say for the purposes of the math, a pair of 1/2AAs...

    445nm diodes only?

Yes indeed! Those M140s he has look like they will fit the bill perfectly. Thanks for the direction! Dave

    445nm diodes only?

Long time no see! Back after my usual year+ absence... and I hope this message finds you all well and having a great deal of coherent fun! I'm looking to grab a few 445nm diodes only - 1.0W or above. I didn't see anything in the GB section - anyone have a store that's running with these...

TTL capable driver based on 2 LM317(2 DDL drivers) possible?

I'm using this schematic to modulate my red 250mw and so far, so good. It includes a resistor that you would experiment with to determine it's max value to set the "off" current, and the other resistor you can calculate (see the schematic) to determine the Max "on" current. It uses two 2N2222A...

    W/cm^2 to Joules conversion?

Perfect... I thought time factored in there somewhere. Thanks very much!

    W/cm^2 to Joules conversion?

I need to convert some laser power specs. For the sake of convenience, let's say I have a 1 Watt 445nm laser irradiating exactly 1 square centimeter. Question 1: Does this represent, properly, 1W/cm^2 ? Question 2: if Q1 is correct, how would I convert that to joules per cm^2? If Q1 is...

    About lasers and wounds.

NASA is using it LLLT isn't just about the wavelength. The studies indicate that it requires pulsing. Depending in the pulse frequency and wavelength, you can target tissue regeneration, neurological function including pain reduction (pulsing 100Hz 635nm slows production of a neurotransmitter...

EDL-2 Laser Diode Driver IC: 10~350mA, TTL modulation

In perusing various TTL modulatable LD driver circuits on google, I found this one: EGISMOS Technology, Laser Diode Driver, Laser Driver IC, Laser Driver Circuit, Modulation Laser Driver IC, TTL Modulation Laser Driver Max I of 350ma, in only an 8 pin package with minimal support components...
