Back from Yosemite. There doesn't appear to be very much interest in this GB, I've only gotten the responses above in this thread. It costs a huge amount to ship this stuff to my house (last time was over $100 for shipping due to hazmat fees and such) and I might not do the GB if I can't get a...
GB is through a different supplier, but I will continue to investigate options. A large amount of the cost is shipping for materials like this, so I will talk to galliumsource about shipping costs.
Also, shipping by air requires an extra hazmat fee for gallium so international shipping might...
I would be open to splitting costs with a group of people for some of the elements I am unable to provide. If anyone is interested in splitting costs for strontium, beryllium, sodium, or potassium, let me know and we can work something out. Even better for me would be an organized element...
Finally heard back from the company and got price quotes. Shipping is very expensive in bulk for materials like this, so this GB depends on if enough people are interested so that I can put in a large enough order. I inquired about everything that was suggested, plus a couple extras, and here...
I still haven't heard back from the company. I will give it a couple more days and then send another email out if I haven't gotten another response. I fully plan on doing this.
I also just rearranged my element collection, so I really hope I do get a response so I can add to it!
All that you touch
And all that you see
All that you taste
All you feel
And all that you love
And all that you hate
All you distrust
All you save
And all that you give
And all that you deal
And all that you buy
Beg, borrow or steal
And all you create
And all you destroy
And all that you do
And...
So far, here's a list of what people have expressed interest in:
Gallium
Indium
Mercury
Magnesium
Potassium
Cesium
Rubidium
Bismuth
Copper (powder)
Iron (powder)
Aluminum (powder)
Cadmium
Titanium
I won't be selling thorium, uranium, lithium, or sodium as the company I am buying from doesn't...
Nothing wrong with collecting elements, it's a good hobby. Also really satisfying to use those elements to do projects with. I can definitely get all materials to make Field's metal and Wood's metal, but I won't be selling uranium or thorium metal...I don't even know where I could buy it in...
Didn't know this, thanks for the heads up. That kid was WAY over his head. I would personally never plan on doing anything like that but laws are laws, I guess.
I'm glad people are interested in this. I'll leave this thread here for a couple of days to gauge specific interests and then send in a request for prices. Please let me know ahead of time if there are any metals you want me to get a quote on so that I won't have to send in multiple requests...
Here's a link to the last GB: http://laserpointerforums.com/f55/multi-element-gb-official-39841.html
I've attached a photo showing what elements are available; anything in yellow is available in some form or another. I'll have to inquire for prices.
Fun/project metals are exactly why I'd be doing this. I love that kind of stuff. Last time, I remember selling bismuth, indium, gallium, and a couple others. I'll pull up a link to the thread if I can find it. I actually want to find the bottom 2 alkalis for my own collection, but they are...
Thanks T_J! Good to see you're still posting a ton. It's cool to see some of the same people around here.
bloompyle: I'm able to get gallium, indium, magnesium, copper, and aluminum definitely. I can look into the alkali metals but they might be harder/more expensive due to reactivity and...
Hey guys, it's been a while since I posted here, but I still lurk occasionally.
Anyway, I did a group buy for elements like gallium and bismuth a while back and I was wondering if there is any interest in something like that again. I'm not quite sure if the dynamics of this forum have changed...
Okay, okay. I know I have not been on this board for ages, but I think at least somebody should have a good answer or some opinions.
I've been accepted to both Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Colorado School of Mines. I have just finished touring both schools and have seen definite pros...
