That was my blueray that died using the 7805 setup, but in my post I did explain that I set it to 47ma's instead of 1-2 ma's past lazing threashold. I'm sure I overdrove that one. I have 2 more diodes on order and I plan to still use the 7805 setup, but I will tune them better this time.

These guys seem real pushy to me. That's a bit of a turn off for me consumer wise. Daedel is a busy guy on this forum running with several projects right now. I'm sure he will get to this when he can.

That's an excellent suggestion! I fear that the plastic may melt if we try to solder to it but if we could salvage the connector the ribbon plugs into we may have something!

LOL Man, that does suck! Sorry to hear about your mishap. Yeah, I didn't realize that the connection ribbon was actually a small circuit board soldered to the back of the diode so I tried to press it into the module with that still attached. It smashed all my pins together but I was able to use...

Just checked and the red works but nothing from the the violet pin...sob sob... it's dead. :'(

@Dr. Lava... I didn't try the red. Is it powerful enough to mess with? I don't even get purple LED light with the violet when it went out, just no output at all. So I wonder what the best circuit is for these in reagrds to diode longevity? And Dr. Lava... when you doing another group buy? I'm...

Just thought I'd share that my blueray diode from the Dr. Lava group buy just died. I built the 7805 circuit that Rog was using and set mine to 37ma with DX RCR123 batts. It lasted for about 5 minutes before it died and man was it beautiful! I feel very sad right now as I had just finished the...

Outter ring focuses, the inner ring holds the lenses in place. Mine had a ton of green glue on the outter ring which I scraped away with a small precision screwdriver. Focus does nothing for burning or popping on mine.

Well, I just tried to adjust the focus but the focus rings are glued in place and won't budge. Using my goggles I can can compare the dot with my DIY red and it is the same size dot at the same distance but the DIY red is much brighter. 180mW?
