    DX BluRay-Dilda! looks interesting...

Well, I have this one I made a while back. When I get mine, I will run it by this meter: http://laserpointerforums.com/f42/diy-laser-power-meter-26831-14.html#post331772

I ordered one last night. Will try it on the home brew meter when it arrives (knowing DX - in a few weeks)

    White laser...spiro!

Awesome work! You did a great job of making everything fit. That must have kept the grey matter churning for a while.

    Burning:  PHR-803T blu-ray vs LG 20x red

Re: Burning:  PHR-803T blu-ray vs LG 20x red Do you think we have given the OP enough info to get totally confused yet?  :) There's lots of great info here for people to digest.  Cheers, Paul

    Burning:  PHR-803T blu-ray vs LG 20x red

Re: Burning:  PHR-803T blu-ray vs LG 20x red I was referring to the power going into the LDs. The power in = Voltage x Current.  Both are measurable with a multimeter.  Blurays have a much higher forward voltage than red LDs for a given current. For example: Let's say the forward voltage of...

    Burning:  PHR-803T blu-ray vs LG 20x red

Re: Burning:  PHR-803T blu-ray vs LG 20x red Keep in mind you have listed current to the LDs and not the power to them. The forward voltage of the Bluray is probably around double that of the red LD. That brings the power going into both a little closer. The rest can likely be explained by the...

    possible 3$ boost circuit

It's a simple boost circuit. I see an inductor, a schottky diode, a capacitor and a switcher chip. It's unlikely that this will boost to 400mA.

BR PHR-803T Sleds or DIODE $13.50 FINISHED. DONE

Re: BR PHR-803T Sleds or DIODE $13.50 FINISHED. DO Got mine today! Thanks! I was lucky, there was a tear in the package that they may have fallen through if they had not been bound together. Unfortunately, i have to go out of town next week and again the week after so I may not get to play...

    PC or Mac?

I had always had PCs until a few months ago. I didn't know too much about Macs before that time. Our daughter was starting a program that would be using Macs so I wanted to learn about them before she started her program. We opted to get a 24" iMac (she got a MacBook). I have to say that it...

DIY Charger: 14 Batteries at once! (Now with pic)

Re: DIY Charger: 14 Batteries at once! (Now with p I have to say I would not recommend this approach to everyone. There are many people out there that do not know about the dangers of Li-ion batteries. There are some pre-charge criteria that should be met prior to charging. It would be sad to...

AMC7135 blues. (Gazoo, need your assistance)

I just ran across this pic on CPF.  It shows the traces well (no components on the boards).

AMC7135 blues. (Gazoo, need your assistance)

The diode is OK.  The stripe on a diode marks the cathode end.   The continuity checker on your DMM should show short-circuits. I have attached a photo to show what points should be connected by traces. If the driver is functioning properly, there should be about a 1.75V drop across the 5 ohm...

AMC7135 blues. (Gazoo, need your assistance)

You have the wiring correct. I have been hearing reports of some of the boards at DX and Kai having a very high failure rate.   On some, the vias are non-functional (they don't connect both sides of the board).  To eliminate that possibility, ttry re-routing the power connectors as shown.  The...

help me i broke the pins on my blu-ray diode

There's some info on post 13 of the thread below on how I fixed my red LD's leg. http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1189268933 Paul

These boards are different from teh last set. Can you take a nice clear picture of the top? It's hard to see the solder connection at the load wire. Are they the same chips? From what I can see so far it looks OK.

All owners of a laser-man red pointer look here

Re: All owners of a laser-man red pointer look her Got my 5 today. Mine are metal/glass. I get a similar improvement with the red (~12%). I find no performance gain for the Blurays.

help me i broke the pins on my blu-ray diode

I usually type mu as u because I am too lasy to enter the special character on the keyboard. If I hand write it, I include the descender to make "u" "mu". "m" will always be milli for me. IIRC, older caps used to be labelled "mfd" - micro-farads.
