    GB 20mW 635nm diode

Got my diodes last week, thanks. Yesterday I put one in an Atlasnova "<5mW" 650nm red pointer. No modification necessary to the original driver (case-positive), which uses the LD's internal photo diode for regulation. I experimented a bit and found that the PD in my 20mW 635nm diode puts out...

    12x BR DIODES

I put together a 12x recently, happy to provide another data point. Diode: SF-BW512L sled (from rayfoss) Host: UltraFire C3 with a Darkhorse heat sink Driver: My own design, based on TPS61165 IC Lens: 405-G-1 Current: 420mA Output: 560mW Run time so far is approximately 30 minutes.

    A140 diode low power build

After trying it out in the dark I like it more and more. Here is a crude attempt at a beam shot.

    A140 diode low power build

I wanted a 445nm laser at low power that could actually be used for pointing. My favorite host for a low power side-button build is the Atlasnova red laser pointer. It is pretty easy to open and most of its components can be re-used for the 445 build. The host looks like this, classic slim <5mW...

    Planning DIY TPS63000 based driver

I have the TPS63000 running in a similar setup with a current sense amplifier. I used a Zetex 1009 current monitor. The TPS63000 and 61200 are the only ones I could get to run in this manner, tried it with some other step-up converters and had the same problems as described by erdabyz.

Looks great, I'd like one of those. PM incoming.

    List of 445nm diodes

Today I put together my first 445 build, nothing fancy: Dorcy Jr with heatsink from stonetek, Aixiz 405 glass lens, A130 diode. The driver is my own boost design. 520mA to the diode result in 415mW. Run time is well under one hour.

ROUND 3 SOLD OUT!! - CHEAP 445nm (true blue) 5.6mm diode group buy.

Re: ROUND 3 - CHEAP 445nm (true blue) 5.6mm diode group buy. Please add me to the list. I will take two of these. Thanks.

FS: Tiny Titanium Key Chain Kit! (For Red)

Depends on the battery, in another host I have it running a PHR at 65 mA from a 1.5V alkaline. For higher voltage batteries like 3.7V Li-Ion it should easily go up to 200 mA. Have a look at the converter's datasheet http://focus.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tps61200.pdf This is by no means a...

FS: Tiny Titanium Key Chain Kit! (For Red)

I cheated (a bit) - the module protrudes approximately 1mm. Not sure how much space there is left in there, I don't think I can get it completely flush. Also I had to file down the positive contact point a little to allow the current path to be closed with that slightly longer 10180 battery...

FS: Tiny Titanium Key Chain Kit! (For Red)

Received it on Tuesday, that was really fast for overseas mail. Thanks. This is a great host, I like the block pattern on the body. I decided to go for a blu-ray build. It's not pretty but I managed to cram a driver in there. It runs off a 10180 Li-Ion battery pushing 85 mA into a PHR...

    Blu-ray burner diode swap?

It was easy because the BR diode of the BDR-203 is very much exposed. I didn't even have to remove the sled, just used hot air to de-solder the ribbon cable from the diode. Here you can see the original heatsink with the PHR diode glued back into its location on the sled.

    Blu-ray burner diode swap?

I did something like that with a Pioneer 8x drive a while ago. Took out the 8x BR diode and put in a PHR. The drive reads Blu-Ray discs fine, I never tried writing a BD-R with it for obvious reasons :)

    3*AG13 pointer turns blu-ray

Thanks for your comments. Keeping that original optics holder helped a lot to conserve as much space as possible for the driver/switch assembly. I tried to get some beam shots of the pointer running but my camera doesn't seem to pick up 405nm very well. Here is a nicer photo of the completed...

    3*AG13 pointer turns blu-ray

I wanted to try this for a while now: take a 3*AG13 keychain pointer and turn it into a BR. Finally got around to do it. DX Sku.12323 was chosen as a host. It is a cheap 650nm pointer running on three AG13 / LR44 alkaline batteries. The original driver 'circuit' consists of a single...

    WTB: Clicky Switch

I think I got one or two left (the cheap ones, no gold plating on the spring). PM me your mailing address and I'll send you one. It'll be a while though, shipping will be from Germany (usually takes 1-2 weeks).

    Erdabyz's switching laser drivers

No, I did not, it just worked in my naive "just plugging it together" approach. But, the only regulators I was able to get working with the high side monitor were the TPS61200 and TPS63000. I tried some others and failed, because the Vref didn't stabilize. I just had another look at the...
