My first build, 559nm DPSS in custom sci-fi inspired host

My build wasn't meant for practicality though. Most builds are much more practical and rugged. It's the 561nm (actually 559nm), but it looks green on my camera.

    Yellow lasers not from lasence.

They may have the real product, but not at the stated price. Sometimes the listings are just for placeholders. When I bought from lasence, they sent a payment link from a customized order instead of me clicking the checkout button for the laser module.

My first build, 559nm DPSS in custom sci-fi inspired host

Here are some more pics since the attachment limit is 10 images. These two are enhanced with smoke, and edited to match the real color more closely.

My first build, 559nm DPSS in custom sci-fi inspired host

After purchasing 2 lasers from Sanwu last year, I was determined to make my own laser build. Well, since the laser is self-contained in the module (and it came with the driver already), the build was more about the host than the laser itself. The laser module came from lasence. I will call...

    525nm NUGM03 1W in custom Lifetime17 host

The exact current draw is usually determined by the driver settings. But if you look at diode datasheets there's the value for current draw, which can serve as a reference how hard to drive the diodes. Usually the value comes in typical current draw + maximum current draw (a.k.a. absolute...

Why are all the good posts so old?

I've always been fascinated by locks and lockpicking. It surely is a weird feeling, understanding that the backbone of our society's security system mostly relies on small pins and springs (also other small, metal bits).

GH15130C8C (a $4 Multiple Quantum Well Diode) and possible driver design?

I'm not sure either, but curiosity is going to kill me :p Also thanks for suggesting LM3410.

GH15130C8C (a $4 Multiple Quantum Well Diode) and possible driver design?

Again, thanks for the input! Maybe I'll end up getting that TPS61165. I admit their search function is very convenient though :D

GH15130C8C (a $4 Multiple Quantum Well Diode) and possible driver design?

Thanks for the feedback. I checked out LM3519 but it's only 20mA. So if I want to use it at 140mA, I need to use 7 of them in parallel?

GH15130C8C (a $4 Multiple Quantum Well Diode) and possible driver design?

Looking at Sharp's catalog, I noticed that other than the usual TO-can diodes they also offer some oddball diodes packaged in so-called "t1.8mm frame". Turns out these are Multiple Quantum Well diodes that don't sell for much (not much power either). I'm kind of surprised nobody mentioned them...

Why are all the good posts so old?

Thank you very much. Honestly I'm struggling to learn electronics, and sometimes I feel intimidated seeing highly technical posts on the forum. That makes me think twice before posting. Like, I have this idea for a laser build, or something I want to share or ask. Is it worth posting on the...

Duty Cycle of Sanwu “Laser Ranger”

Hello Ryan I think I came from a similar path with ya. Bought a sanwu pocket and challenger II last year. Initially I just wanted to buy lasers, but now I want to build them too. Being made from steel, the ranger (at full power of 1 watt+) most likely won't have duty cycle as long as other...

    Favorite Laser Pointer Uses

My dormitory has a small study room with no windows. The whole wall is covered by a vinyl wallpaper. I usually burn some of it with my 2 watt Challenger II to provide a little smoke to view the beam of my other lasers. (Of course nobody else is in there) Great thing the wallpaper has a stone...

Why are all the good posts so old?

If the staff and members can be certain it would not bring the wrong kind of people... Sure, I'm down with it.

Review of Lasence 559nm 20mW chartreuse module

This is a review of Lasence's 559nm 20mW DPSS module. As I don't have an LPM and spectrometer, this review will focus on my experience as a customer of Lasence. Also, this review is not sponsored in any kind by Lasence. The Wait I purchased the module on Alibaba on May 12th, shipped via FedEx...

    Host With Optical Shelf Needed

As I'm also in a similar situation, I think I'll try to contact CNC & milling services on alibaba. I first thought about looking for those services locally (Taiwan) but figured that labor costs would be cheaper in China.

Lasence: Yellow laser modules just got cheaper

I visited Lasence on alibaba today and found that their 575nm lineup just got a significant price drop (was $270-ish before), and now they have even cheaper 561nm options (woah!) ▬570nm or ▬575nm 20mW CW? $200 ▬570nm or ▬575nm 10mW CW $100 ▬561nm 20mW CW $85 ▬561nm 15mW CW $70 ▬561nm 10mW CW...
