    My white breathelizer glows

No, secondary glow of objects caused by already diffuse reflection is safe. Just don't try to watch focused dot .. anything which gives you afterimages is stressing it. And of course, you wear goggles to prevent ACCIDENTAL hit. Problem with accidents is they are unplanned, and thus hard to prevent.

How to calculate the current/voltage that need to be applied on the laser diode

There might be no warning at all .. that's why we use torture test .. we destroy few diodes of popular types to find out where the limits are.

Hit in eye with 1000mw 445nm blue laser

I guess that would be impossible. Anyway, as for me, donation is always just throwing money away. Just do whatever you seem is right to do with them.

    Why do Lasers leave trails?

It's just your vision being too slow. And it's not specific to lasers. Lasers are just good at producing fast moving highly visible dot.

Why Did Holograms Go Out of Favor?

There is actually link to the thread about the case in the very same signature  Scary reading though ..

Why Did Holograms Go Out of Favor?

Indeed, word 'hologram' is used for anything optically weird. Projection sights also have nothing to do with holography. Basically no 3d display has, and no 'image in air' kinda of display either. Those are also usually 2D 'image in air'. Why there are no holograms anymore ? I wonder that myself ..

    Most powerful laser pointer?

From what I remember here, I think somebody did a pretty nice 'pointer' with 3 9mm 445nm cans .. it hit almost 10 watts. It was huge of course, but it was handheld, and it was flashlight shape (custom host IIRC) .. bordering term 'pointer'. Can't remember battery type. But that was really...

    Maybe a noobish question..

Red are build for DVDs, 405 for bluray, 445 are build for projectors .. that dictates their parameters. That is why red and 405 are singlemode. That's why reds are most common (and cheap) in 300mW and 405 in 700mW. That's why 445 are multimode, power is more important than beam quality in...

What is the wavelength of true brown?

You are getting off topic .. I mean brown lasers would be really cool. It's no laughing matter ..

Looking for a Laser Pointer with a THICK beam (If they actually exist...)

It's rather unclear what you need the laser for, and why you need thick beam.

    Final Destination 5

    It's not possible ..

infrared laser bu38 808nm 300mw, how to check?

It should pass current in open direction. If it doesn't it's dead.

Recommendation for long range laser diode?

If it's to be VISIBLE at long range, it will have to be dangerous at short range. It's like you would want to have gun which will shoot 600m but will be harmless. It's not possible. IR will require a bit wider beam, as it has longer wavelength, but since we are talking 1 millimeter, it should...

Recommendation for long range laser diode?

It's not as much about diode, as about optics. You need single mode laser, that's for sure. But rest of the problem is on optics side. Generally speaking, to improve divergence of a laser, you need to increase it's output aperture size - in other words the beam must be thicker when exiting...

Hey guys does this look like a good deal for $200.00?

Hey he can always send it back !

I would also consider this one .. Crown upgrade 400mW green laser torch/adjustable/waterproof [OL-CGL-400] - $185.99 : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce

    Laser Lifetime

Anyway, with hobbyist lasers, you don't really operate them on hourly basis. More like seconds. Minutes per day when the laser is new. If you just burn stuff, or occasionally blast it outside, you will have troubles reaching laser lifetime. I recharge batteries in mine like once a year. Using...

New Burning 250mW red laser torch/focusable

Even at 200mW it's a really nice price for such host. I mean I don't really need another red laser. I don't really need another red laser. I don't really need another red laser. I don't really need another red laser ..

    really dumb question time

Direct drive is really not that simple. It can be done .. but it depends on what voltage the battery has, and how it will change with current .. and also what diode it is. Diodes have mostly linear voltage-current response (in the open direction). If you slowly increase voltage, first there...

New Burning 250mW red laser torch/focusable

Wow .. this host for $25 !? Looks like I'm taking one as well .. There must be a catch, there must be a catch !
