CLOSED - 445 build flicker problem - CLOSED fixed thank you all!

Re: 445 build flicker problem I'd personally measure the current draw, and try it with a second power supply (preferrably a stable bench supply, if you have one available). I'm guessing there's nothing visibly shorted on the driver, and nothing is getting too warm?

CLOSED - 445 build flicker problem - CLOSED fixed thank you all!

Re: 445 build flicker problem Are they from a reputable company? Chinese specs aren't necessarily worth the paper they're written on. It'd be useful if you could measure the actual current draw from the batteries nonetheless.

CLOSED - 445 build flicker problem - CLOSED fixed thank you all!

Re: 445 build flicker problem What's the current draw from the battery? It might simply not be able to supply enough current.

FS: Casio Projector Bits n Bobs

Another free bump (not that you need it) to say that everything arrived today in good condition - and that if you're considering buying then don't hesitate - Dave is a great guy to do business with! Charlie

Can´t run Half Life 2 on Windows 7 - IT WORKS!

I can host from a datacenter in London for less than that if anyone's seriously interested - if I remember correctly they're only a couple of hops away from fibers to the US and mainland EU. We should probably test the pings for everyone involved before deciding though.

Driver Compilation Thread - All Drivers In Just One Thread!

There are also other DIY drivers - LM3410-based drivers such as Eudaimonium's Spark driver, and op-amp based current sources. The LM3410 can be run as a buck, boost, or buck-boost converter depending on how it's wired. The op-amp based design would be closest to a linear driver but as HIMNL9...

    It's done...

RE Donnaj: It's spam posting, report and ignore it. Probably some SEO link-building bot/tactic (the link in the signature).

    Wicked Lasers GIANT price drops!?

Just throwing it out there, but I guess you see the mistake in the logic in hindsight? ;) (Anyone who says anything bad about WL over there is banned on the spot)

Getting your foot in the door at CPF...

Will It Blend? | Presented By Blendtec is a good place to start, I'm sure it would create a thread of outrage or two over at CPF. (not as much as the Mac fans when the iPad was up for demolition though) ;)

Comment on my proposed 445 prototype build

You should be able to make that fit without too many problems - one thing that might be a problem is holding the module in place. Are you going to use thermal glue or a set screw? That decision affects how easy the rest of your build is, and whether or not it can be removed/replaced easily.

    World Cup Thread!

Not quite the same principle, but similar - we didn't hear about "Peter the psychic parakeet" or "Mike the magic mutt" because they failed, but the one animal that did get lucky each time has gradually got more and more attention - then the final "prediction", which was hyped up by the media...

Laser diode thermal regulation / potting

In the projector they have a thermal cutoff, but that's comfortably above "too hot to touch" (85 degrees at the heatsink rings a bell but I'm not certain).

Now we can cut nails with 445nm lasers :D

Hair smells pretty nasty too, but even 80mW of focused 405nm will burn hair. DISCLAIMER: Don't burn hair anywhere near your eyes (or anyone else's eyes). Monobrow removal with a laser is inadvisable except by experts. ;)

    Scratch Built 8x Bluray

That is a really impressive build, congratulations! I still haven't put my 8x (or indeed 445nm diode) to use yet, I really should do.

Getting your foot in the door at CPF...

CPF is a pretty oppressive and nasty forum IMO, their leadership is Orwellian in comparison to over here. Anyone up for sponsoring "Will it Blend? Flashlight edition" and directing CPF's attention towards it? :eg:

Can´t run Half Life 2 on Windows 7 - IT WORKS!

Re: Can´t run Half Life 2 on Windows 7 I occasionally game but it's become a rarer occurrence for me. Perhaps this summer I will have more free time and get back into it, if so I'd be interested in playing.

Lambo Diablo spotted in the wild . . .

"pretty much" - the Veyron will hit 60mph in 300ms less, but for $1.6 million more... By the way you can quote but remove the image - just remove the [ IMG ] to [ / IMG ] bit.

Can a multimeter measure current directly @ the diode/testload?

I know for a fact that hall sensors can measure currents. Hall effect sensor - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Simple, cheap, and incredible acceleration and handling. Or that for pure looks and awesome. Guess what they both have in common?

Can a multimeter measure current directly @ the diode/testload?

Simple current clamps use the transformer/motor effect to measure, which has to take a "rotating"/shifting field to work properly. Hall Effect sensors use a different principle to measure current, and are more expensive but can measure DC (and lower currents) too. I just did GCSEs, now moving...
