    Noob building Laser

That's going to be a problem, how do you plan on getting aixiz modules then? If you can't get them then you're going to have to make a collimator/heatsink for the laser diode which will be kind of complicated. :P

How to make laser power meter

No you can't anymore, months ago someone here found a way to make them using thermal heads that were being sold on ebay, but when the heads were all sold there was no way to make any more meters.

    diode question

Seriously, do some reading. This question has been asked and answered a million times. Voltage doesn't matter, think CURRENT.

420mA is fine, and where did you get the 6v from?

Nice, you guys remember this vid from back in February?

    Need help to evaluate goggles

Well if I was to guess then I'd say is OD2 - OD3, but there are way to many factors it's impossible to have a good guess. What you could do is to at least get access to a laser power meter, measure the output of a laser, then shine it through the goggles and measure how many mW are getting...

    Need help to evaluate goggles

What he meant is that you can't tell from just pics, it's impossible, you need to have the proper equipment to test the goggles' OD rating.

    Heatsinks

Dude, 70 bucks just for a diode pre-installed in an aixiz module and a heatsink, yeah...... ::)

    How did it happen? :P

    Noob building Laser

lol, yes the diode from a pioneer 115D is a long open can, here's what you'll be expecting when you get the drive. (thanks for the tutorial Andy)

Help building my first DIY red burner

Most people use the goggles for burning up close, so yeah you do need to wear them when burning things. ;D You don't have to worry about IR, these diodes output 650 - 660nm red light only. No IR.

    Noob building Laser

The only driver you can make is the DDL driver, but you need 7v+ to power it. If you want to power a red diode without having to use a lot of batteries then I recommend you get a flexdrive. You could easily power it with 3AAs, 2AAs if you want but I don't think they'll last more than a couple of...

    Noob building Laser

Sure, (not exactly macro shots but better than nothing) ;D Here's a long open can: And here's a short open can: The physical difference is that one has a longer dye than the other. (hence their names) The short open can pic is bad but you can see a line that goes through the dye, right...

Help building my first DIY red burner

For a host you could get an MXDL. Get two rechargeable CR123s from DX. A charger. A heatsink from jayrob. And there you go, you're now the owner of a high powered red laser. ;D PS, and of course get some goggles, you don't want to go blind do you? :P

    Which DIY is cheaper?

Well since you're going to be using a rkcstr driver you don't need it, but if you're going to be doing a lot of projects then you'll definitely need one. They're not expensive, I got mine at Sears for 20 bucks. Oh, and I'm about to post on your other thread.

    Which DIY is cheaper?

That depends on a lot of things, if you've never worked with electronics before than you'll also have to buy a lot of basic equipment like a digital multimeter, a soldering iron, etc. Do you have any of that?

Yes but member02 hasn't posted here for more than 2 months now. ;) You could try PMing or emailing him to see if he's still taking orders. I don't know. :-?
