    FAIL THREAD!!!!

I saw this on the Darwin Awards site. 2002 Personal Account: Laser Dim Bulb

    FAIL THREAD!!!!

I'm not gonna read the previous 200+ pages of fail (at least not all of them) so forgive me if this is a duplicate, even though I'm sure it is. I have some high power DLED's for sale! They emit probably around 0.005 to 0.1 lumen each with only 100mA - 1000mA input! Quite the accomplished fail...

    Lens pens and lens cleaners

Nice! Just goes to show, great minds really do think alike.

    Lens pens and lens cleaners

Something else I've found quite useful is this: Rubber Dust Blower It has several times the volume of the ones that are used in photography and you can't beat the price.

    Flexmod P3 TO-220 ID?

Thank you rhd. At about a $1.40 each I went ahead and ordered 3 of them from DigiKey. (gives me some room to screw it up again ;)

    Lens pens and lens cleaners

All very good advice. Though I read somewhere that Isopropanol can attack some AR coatings. I'll see if I can find that reference again. On the other hand, I'm guessing you have probably been using IPA for some time with no harm.

    Lens pens and lens cleaners

I personally have used the LensPens. I have three of them of different sizes; they all came together as part of this kit: LENSPEN is The superior Camera lens cleaning system for all fine optics, rifle scopes, camcorder and camera viewer screens, binoculars You can find this kit on Amazon for...

    Flexmod P3 TO-220 ID?

Ok, I have to just suck it up and admit it if I want to save my Flexmod. I... Uhhh, fried the TO-220 part trying to be really slick with the laser I'm building. At least I hope that is all I screwed up. :o My question is what is the TO-220 part so I can order a new one. I'm thinking...

    Parabolic lens

I don't think you can properly couple a laser into a fiber using a CPC because the focal point of the incoming colimated beam is within the CPC itself at the parabola's focus, and the planar wave is transformed into a spherical one. Hmm... any experts on optics care to confirm or correct this...

    Parabolic lens

Edmund's tech images make me think that the beam profile looks better because only the beams center is getting through without being refracted and the edges are being scattered all over the place, kind of like pin-holing and scattering the rest of the beam. This (along with reflection and...

My most recent build (445nm 'labby')

Thanks! Labby's do tend to receive a bit less attention to aesthetics than do handhelds, though I have been seeing some really nice ones here on the forums lately.

My most recent build (445nm 'labby')

:thanks: If you're sure you won't be needing them (else, I'll try yobresal like you suggested). That'd be great! Just to make sure, you're talking about the half-threaded lens coated for blue sold by o-like? Let me know how much you want for them.

My most recent build (445nm 'labby')

Cyparagon: No plans for what to modulate it with. I just wanted to add some versatility to it - for example, projector usage (or maybe long distance laser communication perhaps?). Besides, analog or even ttl modulation is so much more svelte and robust than just varying the supply current...

My most recent build (445nm 'labby')

Thank you all, I appreciate the good words :yh: While my interest in lasers has little to do with impressing others, I'll admit that it is nice to have ones work appreciated. I hadn't thought about making a matching set, but I like the idea quite a bit, now that you mention it...

My most recent build (445nm 'labby')

Hello fellow laser junkies. I finished building this 'labby' a couple weeks ago; figured I'd show it to people that can properly appreciate a bunch of coherent photons and the difficulties involved in producing them (if you're like me, everyone you know thinks you're a just a little too...

    12mm Copper 3.8mm 5.6mm and 9mm Aixiz replacement modules

Hey, I don't suppose you would be willing to make 3 of those copper aixiz press-fits in a 1/2" O.D., would you? The reason I ask is I am knife edging 3 x 445nm together using these: 12X30mm aluminum mount for AixiZ 12X30mm units, AixiZ Unfortunately, the hole for these are drilled 1/2" and...

    Hello from Colorado

Hi guys. I figured I'd finally say something. I've been lurking around here and the other laser forums for a couple years now, learning and practicing what I read, but never posting. In the future I hope to contribute to the wealth of knowledge that is LPF. -Eric
