I don't particularly care about the wavelenght, as all of these diodes will sooner or later become common, it's just that the 532 dpss dies in the cold, while the direct diode lasers don't.

Since nobody seems tot care or to know, I'll throw up soms other thoughts. A far as I know, there is no such thing as a 515nm diode. So it must be either a 520 or 510. The 520 has a lasing threshold around 15 mW, according DTR's tests. Dunno 'bout the 510's. Do you think these penstyles are...

That would be FOTOPIC vision, or daylight vision. Scotopic (=night) vision is largely colourblind but has a peak sensitivity around 510 nm

People recommending 30 - 50 mW greens for astronomy usually just have no idea what astronomy is about. Do you guys have ANY idea why dedicated astronomy lasers are ALL in the 3-5 mW range? Did you read the Z-bolt blurb that their 5 mW greenies are even LPM'ed and certified to be of NO MORE than...

Jerry, I'm an astronomer, too. For pointing purposes, you want a green laser not much brighter than 5 mW. Anything stronger and the brightness of the beam will destroy your nightvision. I can not say a thing about the laser you ask about, however I can recommend Z-bolt's astronomy laser ...
