Chat with a WL employee joe.

If there was big money involved WL would have already done it.

    Is it good??

Short answer: Nah If you really want a laser with monster output, look in to the safety precautions you HAVE to take. Quality safety glasses are a requirement with lasers like this. If you want a quality laser which will actually output the claimed power look at sites like SciFi Lasers and...

Chat with a WL employee joe.

If they released a 473 handheld the price would be insane, costing way more than other 473 handhelds on the market, because its clear that they really like big profit margins. I guess they would need a fair bit for marketing, since that's what they seem to care about more than anything, but...

    532nm DPSS--Jet Lasers or Laserbtb

Both will be insane bright, both will probably be overspec, both will have great beam quality. The JL will have better heat sinking because there is simply more host, that will mean slightly longer duty cycle. If I could import handhelds I would go for the JL because I like the host and the...

    Hello.....and I'm addicted to lasers

Make sure you grab some glasses dude, safety first. Lasers are not toys, but you can still have fun.

    lathe safety

Its all about prevention, simple things like not have clothing that dangles over the spinning bits, not touching the chuck or work piece and being alert in general. But when you have a job that has you turning for long periods of time increases the chances of an accident, no matter what...

    lathe safety

Yeah... don't look if you are eating, planning on eating or have recently just eaten. Having used a lathe before I feel that I may have been a little too relaxed.

    Loose focus on [old] sci-fi 445nm 1W

Re: Loose focus on sci-fi 445nm 1W I've got an external spring on my 445, it sure makes focusing easier but I still get the same wiggle. Go for the plumbers tape :)

I'm tempted to grab this! 30% off WL -

Never knew these had beam correction, what a deal! Be sure to post some pics when you get it

    Hello from Ames, IA

Shorting the leads on the diode will protect it from ESD, but when you solder it make sure you ground yourself, I did this by touching the back of my pc case. You could try that tool, just make sure you put something like a bit of cardboard over the back of the driver so you don't scratch up...

    Hello from Ames, IA

It's supposed hard to press the driver into the pill, you need something like a vice or a good c clamp to press it, you can try improvise if you need to though. Could try using a block of wood and a hammer.

FS: Google Nexus 5 - price drop, $200

Re: FS: Diodes, Quadcopter, Nexus 5, Galaxy Tab Wow, a cheap nexus 5 appears right after my nexus 4 met with a pair of flying pliers, digitizer is completely out :( lcd works but its kind of useless without touch. wish I didn't take months make buying decisions.

    I Bought From LuckLaser and...

I was expecting this to be a really negative thread, glad its not :) Cheap greenies are a lottery and you just might have won :D I reckon that this is putting out more than 80mW of 532, also a fair bit of IR which is inherent with these. Keep in mind that the drivers on these tend to get quite...

    Dropped my laser

Yeah rattles are bad, something in the switch assembly may have cracked or slipped out. If it is a green laser you can knock the crystals out if alignment in the DPSS module and that is bad news. Take it apart, some heat may help to loosen glue, just don't get it too hot.

Cheap LPM's, is that a TEC used on the head?

sure is, but every TEC is different so they would have to be calibrated individually. If I could buy a calibrated TEC I would totally build a megacheap arduino based LPM.

    M140 Build issues?

Did you short the driver before connecting it to the diode? I didn't on my build but I heard that if you don't it can damage the diode.

    DO NOT BUY FROM laserpenshop.com

Not everyone is a laser pro, but 5W is far too much power someone who isn't laser pro.

    Fs: BB guns

Then they might think you are importing real gun parts, that would get you in massive trouble xD Someone was selling 4 of these not long ago, really wanted one but I convinced myself not to.

    Roche M170 2400 Lumen 3 X XML-2 From GearBest

As long as you get a legit emitters, good heatsinking and a decent driver the cheap Chinese flashlights are phenomenal, outperforming everything up until the crazy expensive price range. I got an X8 from dx not long ago, I took a look at the inside and heat sinking is crazy good and it actually...

A few noob saftey and legal questions.

The dot reflected off a matte surface is a diffuse reflection, at high power these are only dangerous at very close range because the light is no longer coherent, but I wont take my chances 3 meters away from my 445.
