No, the head just doesn't want to fully screw on, the heatsink seems to long, but I think it's the brass ring that's stuck mid-way into the pill. As for the battery, it's just to tick for the barrel, so I used jumpers for the tests.
Received the package today, and well, it's done!
But I'm missing the proper battery, I used a RC2 from DX that doesn't fit in the barrel (almost) to test and set the current.
I've been using a very small aluminum tube I had found at hardware store (no idea what it was supposed to be), and though it has collapsed (because a part of the wall was thinner), it still works well.
Well maybe Daguin or some other forum builders have some fully assembled lasers for sale.
Edit : here's a link to the 18650 kit http://laserpointerforums.com/f64/fs-18650-build-kit-easy-assembly-445nm-blu-ray-red-43857.html
Get yourself a 18650 (did I get the number right?) kit from Jayrob with full copper heatsink and "hot option" (if you never built a laser before) and take a look in the Group Buy section of the forum for good deals on these diodes.
Could you please post a link?
Because this sounds really weird : argon lasers use gas, yet you are also talking about DPSS (IR diode pumped crystals) and diode. This is IMO a 488nm DPSS laser, but at 1W??? Not sure about this...
Found this one on a couch at a home I'm renting this summer :
It took me by surprise when it jumped on my lens... So I brought it outside :
Haven't yet edited these images, this is raw camera output.
Me too, I'm in!
I got a 445nm diode on the way, a flexdrive, an aixiz glass lens, and I do have building experience.
Plus I got a great camera and macro lens. :D
