Which is the BEST laser color for BURNING?

405nm is a violet/blue color. It is borderline invisible so each person may see it slightly different. To me it is violet and flouresces blue on white paper. I would say a 50mW COULD burn if it was focused really well. My 75mW viper will light matches but wont "burn", while my 250~mW GGW...

First time building laser, PLEASE HELP =]

In my opinion, if $12 is going to break you, you may want to re-evaluate this hobby at the moment. It gets very expensive very fast. I am not trying to come off rude, I just don't want you to be displeased with a laser build of yours that you had to cut corners on. -Mike

My PHR-803T Laser Will Not Work

I would highly suggest you invest in a test load unless you want this hobby to cost much more than you planned (in a bad way). What would you be thinking if you toasted a $60 GGW (6x) diode or a *ugh* $200 BDR (8x) because you didn't want to verify everything working correctly with a test load...

First time building laser, PLEASE HELP =]

Dark would set you up with a kit to your specifications. he is a very easy to work with guy. Shoot him a PM I am sure he can help you out. It can be in as many pieces as you would like. -Mike

Which is the BEST laser color for BURNING?

Every color wavelength has the same burning "potential" if it is focused correctly. It has been argued that most surfaces absorb ultra violet light better than most other wavelengths but I can't confirm or deny that. After a certain point it becomes personal prefrence. I personally like my...

My First Laser Attempt, Double Check Me

Double post X_X. As for the red diode... the only thing I can tell you for sure is you have the right voltage in mind. I do not recall its pin layout. As for the PHR, you can not test the current with the diode still attached (or at least with accuracy). Don't risk just turning the pot a...

Can this be set to mV?

I threw some rep your way. You are more than deserving! I would really suggest you looking into some safety glasses though. I have had numerous cases of flash burn(welding) and such. It is really not worth the risk. That and you are much younger than most of the members. It would really...

Looking for help with a lite-on 4x laser

For the red diode I want to say 3v (flexdrive takes care of this and rkcstr needs 5-5.5v) I may be wrong as I do not deal with red diodes. As for the IR, it is pretty weak anyways and IMO is not worth the $$$ for the driver and module/host. I would suggest starting out with a PHR-803T build...

    Windy City blue ray Fanatic

Well lets say Drlava set 30 drivers that day and sent you one set at 300mA rather than 115mA. Dead diode! Shorting the cap is optional and recommended to discharge any residual voltage that could spike and damage the diode. This thing is very sensitive. Hope this helped. -Mike

Did you ever find a conclusive answer to your PHR problem? Is it dead? Do you plan to rebuild it? -Mike

    New O-Like 200mW 532nm module.

If the new ones turn out to be legit and STABLE I believe I will purchase one and actually have a powerful green. I do not consider my V75mW powerful by any means. -Mike
