Burning test with my LZSK 50mw

Congratulations buddy. Glad you didn't run into any issues with our local customs!

    Hello form the Philippines

Well well well so another one joins the community :D Welcome! There are tons of "gadget" stalls in mainstream malls that sell 532s in the 30-50mW range (advertised as 100-300mW) for $10-40. BTW If you want to see a 2W+ 445 in person and live in the Metro, feel free to send me a PM. I've got...

    Do you EDC your laser?

I carry two bags almost every day, and a 2.2W 445 saik stays in the second duffel bag in a ziploc wrapped in a microfiber towel together with an extra battery and a couple of silica gel packets. There have been times when I need to take a photograph of a certain urban location but need to get...

Advice On Building High Powered Lasers?

That will depend on whatever it's going to make final contact with. Some objects' colors absorb particular wavelengths more than others, so you can have a laser that may be higher in intensity than another but generating less heat. If we are only considering only one wavelength then the answer...

    What camera(s) do you own?

Thanks! I first tried double-sided adhesive but that didn't work. Super glue seems to be a non-reversible procedure to me so I'm still hesitating on that option. As for the beam, well I'm always trying out newer angles and yeah I agree it's not a real hazard.:thanks:

    What camera(s) do you own?

Nikon D300s Nikkor 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G VRII Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D Nokia E7-00 The rubber grips on the D300s have expanded and are partially peeling off, but still fully functional nonetheless. The E7-00's camera royally sucks big time. I've always had that lingering fear that...

    The thread about "real" goggles/glasses. . .

Who knows. Maybe I would believe in a goggle-wearing scientist who aims a 4W argon into the eyes.

    Hello, from Philippines

Dude what kind of safety goggles do you have and where did you get 'em from, if you don't mind me asking?

    Laser pointer button problems

Well at least he said thanks anyway. The question now is, will he buy from olike?

    Laser pointer button problems

This dude could've just tried rotating the battery contact spring to realign the button with the PCB but well we know how it all went...

Will this laser be able to light fuses? Blue 100mw or 300mw

A bit related question here. The OP said the requirement was the ability to light a fuse, but never mentioned at what distance, so everybody safely assumed an arm's length or less. What particular power and lens configuration should a 405/445 be to be able to light a 2cm x 5cm fuse from 20...

A plea to users of coated optics (G1 and G2) lenses

Guys you can relax about the acrylics now. Let's go back to the borosilicate glass G1 and G2s. Can anyone with a multimode post pictures of their wall dots with the lens just barely screwed in?

    G-15 xlt

Yeah I was also pretty caught off-guard by that UV red. I'm assuming their statement means ultraviolet rays and not ultraviolet coherent light. I don't have an LPM so I'll wait for someone who can afford a couple of Ray-Bans to burn. And well, yeah, sorry if this might've been better in...

    G-15 xlt

I was recently reading this article on Wikianswers about the Ray-Ban G-15 XLT lens. It specified that this lens blocked 85% of visible light, with only 15% being transmitted. This translates to an embarrassingly low OD1 rating yet I couldn't help but notice their claim that the lens provides...

    Laser Googles, im NEW!

Like what the others said, sunglasses will be useless. They'll at best have 15% transmission of most visible wavelengths, while what you will need are glasses rated OD4 or higher, which reduces the transmission by 1/10000, or higher. Sunglasses are like, OD1 or something.

    SAiK #3 "The Saiklops"

I wanted to post in the Laser Hair Removal thread but it was recently necro'd and I wouldn't want to make it worse. Don't ask me how it happened, but the beam hit the outer part of my left calf, not directly but vertically. It was only for about 1/4 of a second, and I felt it sting really bad...

    What is Your M2 IQ?

I learned a lot here. Thanks madmacmo

    SAiK #3 "The Saiklops"

I recently got careless and discharged my 26650 battery too much. The beam dimmed a bit, flickered, then conked out. I put it in the charger. It kept saying "full/complete" and I panicked, thinking the discharge level was too low. After taking the battery out of the charger and letting it rest...

A plea to users of coated optics (G1 and G2) lenses

I blew more comp.air and now the focused "dot" is a sharp bold line with thinner "wings" one slightly longer than the other. There's a bit of satellite ghosting around it but it is definitely brighter and more intense. When I first got my G1 lens, it wasn't this clear. Is there a thread/gallery...

    Hi all. Confused noob :)

This point also popped up while I was initially reading this thread. Maybe the MythB guys can do an experiment about this. I assume you did your reading but assuming the specs are legit and the atmospheric conditions are perfect (smoke and cloud-free, moonless evening) XD, product "b" does not...
