    Post Your GUN (PICS)

Don't you use expensive O/U shotguns? There's really no way the firing assembly can get dirty in those, so you have less to worry about. If you've ever taken apart a 10/22 or other inexpensive semi-auto, you see how easy it is for crap to get around the bolt or in the trigger grouping, through...

Help find-best "cheap" led flashlight !

Sorry, I wasn't very clear-I mean that 10A from two batteries is not better than 5A from one battery. Also, remember how we were talking about if you accidentally turned the lens around the weak/more fragile side might point out? Yeah, I did that with my nitecore D10 yesterday. But the...

    Post Your GUN (PICS)

The ruger I disassembled in the summer belonged to my uncle, and was in the keeping of my granddad. Apparently they think you never need to clean guns... every once in a while, he will run a bore snake down the barrel, but he obviously never opened it up. There was a ton of crud in...

Help find-best "cheap" led flashlight !

2.5 amps from each battery IS safer... Either I made a mistake, or you misunderstood it. Also, a while ago we were talking about AR coatings on both sides of a lens-turns out it does help total transmittance. Oops! There is a little bit of internal reflection between the outside of...

    Post Your GUN (PICS)

I took one apart with a leatherman squirt in the summer :na: That gun is very picky about which ammo you use, but once you find the right ammo it works wonderfully! With most .22 ammunition, the gun would FTF/FTE every other round, but with those bulk 550rd packs of federal I got two jams in 400...

Help find-best "cheap" led flashlight !

Yes-but that's a bit different. let's say a LED driver works at 90% efficiency, and gives the LED 18.9 watts. With a single battery at 4.2v, the driver would need to draw 5 amps from the battery. With two batteries at 4.2v, the driver would only need to draw 2.5 amps from each battery. (That is...

Help find-best "cheap" led flashlight !

Well, that would work beautifully if batteries could change voltage-here's the problem-voltage is pushed, current is pulled. A 4.2V battery will never deliver less than 4.2V (or whatever its current charge voltage is) (well, there are certain scenarios where it's possible but it results in...

Help find-best "cheap" led flashlight !

Yes, you are. But power is watts, not amps. 5A draw with one battery and 5A draw with two batteries is just as bad for each battery. 2 batteries in series at 5 amps is bad. 2 batteries in parallel at 5 amps is safer.

    What lights do you have?

Yep, I was thinking about that. I'll have to be careful if I take the lens out of any of my nicer lights.

Umm.... 5A is a problem no matter how many cells you use (in series), LOL... the amps stay the same, the volts double, right?

    What lights do you have?

While I haven't purposefully scratched it yet, I do know that for the amount of use this light has gotten it has a lot fewer lens scratches than my fenix did (in fact it has no scratches at all). The LD20 had only AR and no sapphire coating.

    What lights do you have?

I asked myself this as well-I think it's just a marketing move. It's probably cheaper just to coat both sides, because think about how complex it would be to isolate one side and only coat that side in the coating atomization chamber. However, my 4Sevens quark AA^2 has a sapphire coating on the...

Help find-best "cheap" led flashlight !

AW 18650s are 5A rated, but then again, those are "expensive". Sorry guys, if you want quality, brightness, etc, you have to fork over a bit. No way around it.

    1.25 Kilojoule DIY Coilgun

BTW, that coilgun is a max of 38J according to the builder. While the caps discharge 1.25kj, he said only a max of 3% of that makes it out of the muzzle. If it was really 1.25kj, it would have more force than a hot-loaded .45 ACP (almost twice as much).

    What lights do you have?

I've looked on DX-they have a couple XP-Gs, but no neutral white R4s. Digikey has a bunch, but they're not mounted.

    What lights do you have?

That looks great! I'm thinking of swapping the XR-E in my D10 with an XP-G R4, but I'm having trouble finding the emitter mounted on an appropriately sized board... anyone know where I can get mounted LEDs?

    What lights do you have?

Got my D10 yesterday... It's great, now I need some AW 14500s. It's such a solid little light, plus the switch system is very cool. It's got one of the most durable flashlight push button systems in the world, rivaled only by the ra/HDS clicky (neither have any mechanical parts that could break...
