I was gonna get the "tactical" tanto version for the slightly better steel than the regular version at the same price, but the look drove me off. (And I've realized that tanto sucks if you ever hope to sharpen the knife.) I like the look of the standard version the most, but the 440a steel...

So, I think I'm picking up a Blur in S30V, unless anyone else has a better idea in the price range (ie BELOW this price, I'm already pushing it). It seems to be among the highest quality assisted openers available, and the steel is basically the best in this price range as well. Aluminum grips...

Programs (embedded and PC) of all kinds, non-laser electronics (think microcontrollers and stuff), flashlights, and a few other things. I would definitely do more if I had the time, and in the summer I often build a lot.

Try to be pessimistic and think "am I ever actually gonna use this?" right before you click "order" or "add to cart".Works for me 90% of the time, I've been able to prevent too many "major" (>$300) shopping sprees in the past few months that way. :D
