what should i do with the diode?

don't do kipkay's minmag hack, you WILL kill the diode. i recommend building yourself a homemade laser driver found on this site and put it into a radioshack project box.

    Custom Plastic Case Fabrication?

that is amazing! u should sell the technology to Nova for thousands, or better yet, market it yourself! you will be rich man!

    Custom Plastic Case Fabrication?

that sounds like an insane laser! will the 6 beams be collimated together?

    Free Wicked Core?

i just gave them the most sweet and kiss-@$$ review they ever heard! if they don't send me something for free, Ill eat my hat. If I get a Core, ill even do an ad saying "I can't believe its not Nova!"

    My DIY Red Shoebox Laser

yeah i always just solder my capacitor leads directly to the ld leads to lessen the risk of the cap discharging into the ld.

    homemade driver

i might just mount it on a small aluminum block i have for some reason. that will do the job of taking away some of the heat of the aixiz. what do u mean by my regulator will drop out?

laser module or driver problems please help!!!

that red glow is the ir light, and its a lot more powerful than it seems. never look directly into it. it seems to me that there's a problem w/ ur crystals. its possible that they are wayy out of alignment, either that or its nonexistant. its possible to fix, but i wouldn't attempt it. u should...

need advice on buying ir laser

lol. i have some prior know how about diy lasers, i just finished my second 200 mw red. would i be able to use the LM317 circuit with it? and what would i use to collimate and focus the beam?

    Kenom lasers...  awesome quality

a couple? lol how much money do you have?!

need advice on buying ir laser

where should i go to get a nice, high quality, burning ir laser for around 100-200 bucks?

FS: 500-950mW 808nm portable BURNING laser!

thats a fantastic deal! i wish i had that much money to burn, but i gotta buy a car!

    Just ordered first laser

PROB. not, but ive never had any experience with the nexus, so i can't say for sure. dx 20's i know for sure can do a little burning, but that's probably because they have no ir filters.

FS: WL 532nm laser shades -SOLD [pending]

Re: FS: WL 532nm laser shades you need to have different glasses for different wavelengths? geez that seems like it would get expensive...

    Just ordered first laser

pot modding is risky business... u r basically making the diode run at a higher current than its meant to do, it really decreases its lifespan. if you want more power, u have to buy a diode that is meant for that power.

    Infrared Burner Cigarette Lighter

im thinking that the burning cigarette would damage the lens or diode itself, because i once wrecked a diode from lighting a match to close to it.

Re: will this circuit work? one of it inside its project box. man my camera sucks.

    homemade driver

Re: will this circuit work? heres another one of it out of its project box. its connected to 4 AAA's and a rocker switch.

    homemade driver

here's some pics of my homemade laser diode driver. i followed dd's schematic. before i hook up my precious new sony diode, i wanted some input from more experienced laser-ers. im using 2 10 ohm resistors in parallel, a 25 ohm rheostat, a 47uf 35 volt capacitor, and an LM317T voltage regulator...

    My DIY Red Shoebox Laser

beautiful laser! mine used to have the same artifacts around the dot, and what i hear from other laser builders like ourselves, its quite normal. well, mine USED to have those artifacts, until i killed it by discharging the cap directly into the diode :'( anyway my circuit looks very similar to...
