DIY Thermal LPM for under $50

How about to sell one of these to me? :-)

WTS: Sinner's "Secret Weapon" Host, X-Boost Driver

Yes I guess so :-) In the meantime I ordered a 10A Judco switch, it should arrive in a few days. Anyway, it so kind of you to answer, I appreciate it! Hope you get a bit back to the business, it would be nice to see (and buy) some new hosts made by you.

    X-boost v7 micro driver question

In the meantime my Sanwu BE arrived so I promptly created an O-ring, for better stability of the whole construction as the BE tends to be a bit loose on the 9mm lens thread. This way the heatsink and the BE acts rather as one unit. So for now, I am using it on the WF501 host with the M140 and...

    X-boost v7 micro driver question

Good news. Today I put a 2-side adhesive thermal pad between the driver and the brass pill. Bought it on the Ebay cheap, having 6W/mK thermal conductivity. Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Thermal-Self-Adhesive-Pad-Tape-20x130x1mm-1-5W-mK-2-4W-mK-6W-mK-/112181164804 I set back the current to 1.5A...

    X-boost v7 micro driver question

Not yet I did not have time for it. But the thermal adhesive have already arrived so in the next days I shall do so.

WTS: Sinner's "Secret Weapon" Host, X-Boost Driver

For keeping the tail spring and big button in place, I decided to press fit and glue a printed 2x3mm wide o-ring. This I printed from a luminescent material so at least it gives some glow in the dark :-) I have ordered the switch finally so it on the way. Now I need to decide only which diode...

WTS: Sinner's "Secret Weapon" Host, X-Boost Driver

Today I printed new lids for the pill and the tailcap as I decided to not use the silicone lids yet, provided originally by Sinner. Even the printed lid allows me to fix the ground to the host easier, or allows easier dismantling later on when needed. As a wire to the host I chose a soldering...

    X-boost v7 micro driver question

One does not have to overthink it, all of us have our little sins :-)

    X-boost v7 micro driver question

That is why I do not have e.g. FB, Twitter and another sh@tspread account and have a bit of different nicknames on different forums. Even if anybody in my country can tie one of my nicks to my real identity, I do not want them to get further, to forums where I used to post or trade. This can be...

    MS-SSW bought from hoo7h

Bought the host from member hoo7h, after a short negotiation. I was eager to buy a suitable host from Sinner and/or Ehgemus and when I saw the offer I could not resist. The whole transaction went smooth, pricing was reasonable. I can recommend him as a reliable member to do business with...

    X-boost v7 micro driver question

This was exactly the outcome of the issue for me as well. I shall report back after solving this.

    X-boost v7 micro driver question

I am from Hungary, EU but I do not like that information to get generally visible, as I do not want any possible agency to tie it potentionally to my nick, e-mail address and so on. Thanks, Rich for the offer but I have all the equipment and material to do it myself. However, I want to do it...

    X-boost v7 micro driver question

Thanks so much for your answers! So first I try to heatsink the chip somehow and I hope it solves the issue.

    X-boost v7 micro driver question

Thanks for clarification. It is much clearer now. The diode is an M140 capable of lasing from 0.3A to 2.0A, but I do not want to drive it with more than 1.5A for safety. My battery is a Panasonic NCR18650PF, capable of delivering max. 10A current, so I was mistaken with the 20A. The host is a...

    Survival Laser Open Thread

+1 satisfied customer here. I bought your C6 host solution for my 520nm build. Everything works perfect, the PL520 diode driven by your driver set @220mA. Just for curiosity, is there any coupon, voucher, discount for LPF members? I would like to order items from you soon again...

    X-boost v7 micro driver question

One more reason comes to my mind, when the battery is not capable of providing enough current, but this is not the case here, as it is not protected and capable of deliver 20-30A current easily.

    X-boost v7 micro driver question

Radim, I do not understand, I am not an electronics expert but how can be there an overload if the max. current is set to a fix 1.5A? The driver simply does not provide more current to the diode, so I am not sure how the diode current hunger influence the driver behavior in this case. As the...

    X-boost v7 micro driver question

I did not test it with dummy this time as I did not want to make any possible mistake and harm the driver. I simply wired the diode together with the driver, host and current meter in one circuit and measured the current. BUT, I did not keep the measurement for more than 5-10 seconds, so culpa...

    X-boost v7 micro driver question

Thanks, guys. By out of regulation you mean because of overload or because of heat? Overload should not be possible as I measured the current before mounting and it was constant. The diode has sufficient cooling. Out of regulation because of driver overheating is possible yes, and as soon as my...
