you actually can use a multimeter for linear drivers :) but a dummy/test load is always good. you will have other builds that wont use linears at some point. with x2 5 ohm resistors you will get 500ma which is a bit high. x3 10ohms resistors would work. i guess you have a pot so x2 5 ohm...

a copper heatsink is more practical to for duty cycles in a c6 (if your budget pertains it that is) and the lower current your driver is set at the higher your duty cycle. get ready to have some burning fun. :) :beer: Justin

there is plenty of different options for sites (cajunlasers, axiz, survivallasers, etc.) seems you are from britain though... DTR sells combos w/ a microboost, M140 pressed in axiz w/ leads. this seems suitable for your build and gives you less room for error just my .02 :beer: Justin

yes i was interested a little ago about the cost of an A140 for a c6 build for longer duty cycles and less money, but it is the same as DTR prices bare diode (for some listings less), you can get an M140 pressed in axiz w/ leads and 3 element glass for $60. you can get extension tube for c6 also...

i thought you could measure the current w/ a lm317 driver (or other linears) :confused: and a fully charged 9v battery will work..but you wont get full power, you should see at least some light. could be another problem. how about you just get a couple 9v batteries and put them on? (in parallel)
