you dont need extra lenses, you can just press that diode into a standard aixiz module with the standard acrylic lens for focusing. stuart :)

i would feel safe using the arctic with the 'lasershades' they provide, they are probably OD4-5+, but if your really concerned OEM laser systems have a variety. these are the best ones for the price. ARG - UV, Blu Ray, Argon, Blue, KTP Green Protection ARG - UV, Blu Ray, Argon, Blue, KTP Green...

i think 12 (possibly multimode) diodes would be very hard to combine and the beam specs would be horrible. If you was planning to make a strong IR laser, why not get 3 1W diodes or a single 2/3W diode? stuart :)
