im using the mini Dorcy with the cr123 battery. 3.0V.
so a 2.5 ohm in series with the positive lead and a 47uf 36V capacitor in parallel and a 1N4001 with reversed polarity in parallel with the leads.
Right?
Got my DX lens and housing in today.. WOO! i played with the focusing a bit on the stock red laser before tearing it out.
Now just waiting on my DVD burner.... ;D
the suspense is killing me.
Re: Resistor color code converter for the scavange
for example: a 2.2 ohm 4 band code resistor is RED RED GOLD GOLD. Translates to 2 2 X.1 5% tol. = 2.2 ohm 5% tol.

this is a neat little utility box.
Hope this helps you find what you need out of that smoked up radio you have laying around!

Ok, i have my Dorcy, waiting on the DX lens and my new diode...
to protect the diode whilst in the dorcy, i have a 47uF 35V capacitor.... I have seen people use 2.5ohm resistors across the poles... is this right? or do i want it in series on the positive? i have also noted people using the...
Re: Ugly but useful little focus aid for AixiZ len
im getting a DX housing... will this work for me?
(im a noob at this)
I saw pictures of people putting their fingers in the beam to adjust... i dont like that...
let me know!
thanks

looks good man... how about a smaller pic, action shot, picture of your internals, etc?
Im doing this right now, just waiting on my DX housing donor for the adjustable lens. I need visual aids on what works :-D
thanks bro!
"umm... what is the movie... "Real Genius" ?"
haha, i saw somthing like that in that movie way back in the day... Cept, it lead to some crazy foam party. It would be cool either way ;D
well, i found a killer deal on ebay for 2 16x DVD burners with stuck drawers, but they power up and the BIOS recognizes them... paid 17 bux shipped :)
Round 2!
haha, yeah... i wanted to do a 16x anyways... just all the more reason. i just accepted that the worst had happened. I also thought it was dead before then because when i was soldering it, i didnt take heat into consideration...and it got very hot.
but yeah... looking to get a cheap DVD burner...
Im doing Mechanical Engineering. Hopefully i will get my masters and start work with Chrysler working on Jeep Designing ;D
Im no longer using an 8x dvd burner diode.... i was using pliars to gently hold it in place while i solder the leads onto it.... then i heard a horrible crack... I cringed...
im just waiting on my housing from DX to put it all together.. Dorsey is gutted and waiting, diode is out, capacitor is ready to go in...
where did you solder the capacitor on the diode?? can you take a picture?
I am more of a visual learner :-D
Thanks!

ok... question. I have a 47uF 36V capacitor for the diode... which way do i solder this on? is there a polarity or anything?
i am just getting into all this electrical formula stuff. We are doing these formulas and such for current, resistance, etc in my physics class, but still would rather be...
well, i have read the whole Dorsy thread... but now im more confused than ever. Is there a known working schematic, parts list, walkthrough that is safer than running the diode right from the battery?
thanks!
